Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is Book Titles That Would Make Great Newspaper Headlines (Submitted by Cathy @ What Cathy Read Next)
Hello Readers! This week’s prompt is such a creative one, but I was surprised by how much of a challenge it became for me. As an over-thinker, I quickly spiraled into being overwhelmed by all my book titles. I had to take a step back and think in more general terms. I decided to focus on five books I’ve read and five on my tbr, which helped to simplify things, as well.
Let’s see what I came up with!
(Link to Goodreads synopsis through book title.)
Books I’ve Read
- People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry – This would of course be a travel story—and one I’d like to read!
- Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center – I’ve read this article before and the answer is nothing! You save nothing but yourself.
- Life After Coffee by Virginia Franken – An informational health story about a caffeine addiction??
- The Death of Bees by Lisa O’Donnell – A climate change story that sadly isn’t too farfetched.
- The Most Dangerous Place on Earth by Lindsey Lee Johnson – I would read this article! And now I’m curious—where is the most dangerous place on earth?! (I did google it, but there really isn’t a clear winner. π€·ββοΈ)
Books from My TBR
- Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams – This could apply to many things, but I see it as a sports article.
- Seven Days in June by Tia Williams – This one could also apply to many things: from weather to sports to entertainment, but sadly, my mind goes to a grim story about a hostage situation.
- Invasion of the Body Snatchers by Jack Finney – This is an article we never want to be real!
- 100 Days of Sunlight by Abbie Emmons – Another climate change story? We lived this here in Texas this past summer.
- The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah – AND a climate change story on the opposite spectrum??
Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments!
You have some great picks here! Emily’s would fit a travel piece really well, and Sarah Adam’s is another really good fit. π
Thank you! This was a fun prompt, even if it made me work a little harder. π
I sure hope I never see a headline that talks about BODY SNATCHERS. EEk!
Me either! π
I found it a challenge too and it was me who thought up the topic! Mine has quite a few on a climate change theme so great minds think alike there
Haha! Well, that makes me feel better. And yes, great minds do think alike. π₯°
A great list that I enjoyed reading. I also had to take a step back as I was overthinking it too!
Have a great week!

It was an easy one to overthink about, but I did enjoy the challenge. Happy reading!
It was good fun π
I liked that you picked some books you’d read, and some books you haven’t read yet! I need to read that Jack Finney too, and it makes a heck of a headline!
Here’s my TTT!
Thank you! Hopefully we can both get to it someday. π
I like your spin to it.
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
Thank you Lydia!
Life After Coffee would make a great headline. Thanks for sharing these great titles.

I’m not sure I could do life without coffee, but it does make a great headline. Ha!
You chose lots of great titles, Dedra! I would read many of the articles based on these headlines. π
Haha! Well, that *must* mean I chose well even with all the overthinking. π₯°
I love that you included what the article would be about! And I am also now curious to read the article about the most dangerous place on earth.
My TTT for this week
Right?! I guess it makes sense that it’s a location that would always be changing depending on wars and natural catastrophes.
Happy reading this week!
Invasion of the Body snatchers- THAT would be chilling!!
I think so, too!
This was so fun!
I had fun with it!
People We Meet on Vacation is a great title
Thank you!
If there ever really was a headline about the Invasion of the Body Snatchers I’d be terrified. ;D Great list.
Gah, me too!!
Seven Days in June is a really good one. Sounds like the chronicling of a HUGE historic event.
Oooh yes. That’s another way it works. It works in so many ways.
I love all of these. Things You Save in a Fire is an especially good choice.
Thank you Deanna!
This is a great list!! Things You Save in a Fire is one that I would read asap! haha
Thank you! π
These are all great! Invasion of the Body Snatchers would definitely be a scary one to see in a newspaper. I would NOT want to read that one. Yikes!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

Yes! That’s not one I ever want to see. π
That worked out beautifully! Nice work!
Thank you! <3
Nice choices, Dedra. I blanked on this one and didn’t do it, but after I came up with a few.
