Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is a Freebie, so I decided to stick with my annual tradition of combining TTT and Jana’s Christmas Song Book Tag. You can check out my post from 2019, 2020, and 2021, as well.
Hello Readers! I hope youβre all well as we start the last month of 2022. I still canβt believe December is here. Life has been busy and Iβm looking forward to some down time soon. Probably in January. π I look forward to this post every year. Itβs a fun way to look back on my reading year. Iβve finished all my challenges, reached all my bookish goals, and itβs time for some seasonal reading.
Letβs see what books I chose!
For today’s prompt, I will be limiting my choices to books I read for the first time in 2022.
(Link to synopsis on Goodreads through the book title.)
1
βAll I Want for Christmas Is Youβ:
Favorite bookish couple
Rowan and Harry from Bend Toward the Sun by Jen Devon
The angst! The delicious slow-burn! This romance was everything, and I loved both of these characters—apart and together.

βIβll Be Home for Christmasβ:
Name a book where a character is away from home (school, vacation, etc.)
When I was trying to pick one book for this prompt, I realized so many of my favorite books from this year featured main characters away from home. I narrowed it down to eight. π
- One Night on the Island by Josie Silver (My Review)
- One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle (My Review)
- The Highland Fling by Meghan Quinn
- Long Story Short by Serena Kaylor (My Review)
- Luck & Last Resorts (Love, Lists, & Fancy Ships, #2) by Sara Grunder Ruiz (My Review)
- Spells for Lost Things by Jenna Evans Welch (My Review)
- The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
- Kiss Me, Catalina (The Queens of Mariachi, #2) by Priscilla Oliveras (My Review)

βHave Yourself a Merry Little Christmasβ:
Name your favorite βlittleβ book (childrenβs book, short story, novella, etc.)
I read quite a few short stories this year thanks to invites for Amazon Originals. The Wedding Setup by Sonali Dev (My Review) and Signal Moon by Kate Quinn (My Review) were probably my favorites—and introduced me to two new-to-me authors!
4
βSanta Claus is Coming to Townβ:
What book(s) do you hope Santa brings you this year?
Running Wild by K.A. Tucker was at the top of my TBR for 2021, but I never got to it. Maybe because I don’t own a copy yet?! I’ve read the first two books in the Beartown series by Fredrik Backman (and watched the adaptation on HBO), but I’ve yet to get a copy of The Winners.
5
βRudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeerβ:
Which book turned your nose red (made you cry)?
Oh boy, did this debut destroy me in the best way. Every Summer After by Carley Fortune is on my ‘books to reread’ list, and I can’t wait for Fortune’s follow-up next year.
My Review

βThe Most Wonderful Time of the Yearβ:
Your favorite book/kind of book to read during the holidays
I love to set aside December for only seasonal or wintery reads, if possible. Unlike last year, I did not request many ARCs of holiday books this year, since I always end up having to read them in October. So I’ve only read two holiday-themed books so far this year, but I can always count on Camilla Isley to provide a fun holiday romance. Home for Christmas about two writers forced to share an Airbnb was full of pranks-y fun!
My Review

βWe Three Kingsβ:
Your favorite trilogy
So technically this isn’t a trilogy, but it’s the only three books from a series I read this year. I had so much fun visiting the Renaissance Faire!
- Well Played (Well Met, #2) by Jen DeLuca
- Well Matched (Well Met, #3) by Jen DeLuca
- Well Traveled (Well Met, #4) by Jen DeLuca (My Review)

βLet it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snowβ:
A character you would love to be snowed in with
Logan, Iris, Thalia, or Jailah
Any of the fierce witches from The Witchery by S. Isabelle. This book was a surprising delight!
My Review

βLast Christmasβ:
A book that seriously let you down
I didn’t have any books that I truly disliked this year, but Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid didn’t quite live up to the hype for me.
10
βWhite Christmasβ:
Upcoming releases youβre dreaming about
I was thrilled to already be invited to read Katherine Center’s next book Hello Stranger (coming 7/11/23). I’ll be dreaming of getting approved for early copies of Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune (coming 5/7/23) and Happy Place by Emily Henry (coming 4/25/23), although I’ve never been approved for a Henry book yet. π
Have I included any of your favorites? Or one from your TBR?? Let me know in the comments!
What a great tag and post! Your #3 was the same for meβI loved both novellas and both were new-to-me authors as well. I’m definitely keen to read more by both authors now! π I’m sorry to see that Maybe in Another Life disappointed you. I read that years ago but it was my first TJR and I remember really enjoying it. Great answers, Dedra!
Yeah, I don’t know what it is about me and TJR, but we don’t always sync. π Same goes for Colleen Hoover, too. I don’t know if it’s the hype causing me to expect more or just their style of writing. But I’ll keep trying their books. Sometimes there’s a winner! π
Love this tradition you do! I really enjoyed The House in the Cerulean Sea last year. That one was definitely in my top 10 for 2021. This year I also read Maybe in Another Life and was quite disappointed by it too! Such a bummer. The parallel story thing saved it a little bit, but the characters and story otherwise were just not that compelling I think.

Oooh, glad to hear I’m not alone with Maybe in Another Life. I thought it was just me. π Yeah, I felt like it could have used a good editing. Happy reading!
What a cute book tag!

Thank you! <3
I am with you on that last prompt. I hope I can at least get approved for Fortune’s book. I have the Center and my library will get the Henry. Devon’s book was so good. I struggle with favorite couple because the authors always seem to do a great job making me invested in their couples.
I would love to get Fortune’s! I’m hoping since I was approved for Every Summer After, I’ll get this one, too. But sometimes that doesn’t happen once the authors get more popular. Fingers crossed for both of us!
I don’t hold my breath for that. When the author is new, you get approved, and then, DENIED. That happened to me with quite a few authors. Berkley is good to me though, so I am hopeful
Love how you combined these into one very fun post! π
I’m all for simplifying this time of year. π
Fun choices–I loved that you included one that let you down, too. That’s helpful.
Thank you! <3
This was so much fun. I have the exact same 3 books that I’m highly anticipating for next year. And Every Summer After made me cry too.
We have some great reads coming up, don’t we?!
This is a great tag and list, Dedra. I have read so many Christmas books this year, many of them would populate this list. I love your choices.
You have read a lot of Christmas books! I’m feeling so behind. π
I am up to 37, but that will probably be it for this season. πππ
What a nice way to wrap up your 2022 reads! I’m looking forward to the same three in 2023 π
So many good romances to look forward to in 2023!
This is such a fun tag, I definitely want to take part!
