Book Tag Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday: Christmas Songs Book Tag Mashup 2021!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is a Holiday Freebie, so I decided to stick with my annual tradition of combining TTT and Jana’s Christmas Song Book Tag. You can check out my post from 2019 and 2020, as well. I’ve also always included it as an entry in Bookending Winter, but sadly, that isn’t happening this year.

Hello Readers! I hope you’re all well and settling into December. So I have a funny story to share… If you’re a follower, you’ve probably seen me mention (and include in photos) our new kitten Gansey. He’s named after a character in Maggie Stiefvater’s Raven Cycle series. Last week we dropped him off to be fixed at the vet, returning later in the day to pick him up. When my husband returned to the car with his carrier, he said, “I’ve got news! Gansey is a girl!” 🤦‍♀️ Only a few weeks ago we took her (gosh, that’s hard to get used to!) in to get her shots at a different vet and they never said anything about her being a girl. Ha! Luckily Gansey is technically a last name in the book, so maybe it still works?? 😝😃

In other news, I just noticed that one of my suggestions for a Top Ten Tuesday prompt was chosen!! Yay!! And it’s on February 15, which is only a few days before my birthday. Happy birthday to me! The prompt is Books Too Good to Review Properly (I have no words!)

For today’s prompt, I will be limiting my choices to books I read for the first time in 2021!

(Link to synopsis on Goodreads through the book title.)

1

“All I Want for Christmas Is You”:
Favorite bookish couple

Hannah and Jack
Sooo, technically this one isn’t available until summer of 2022, but I did read it this year. And I fell HARD for The Bodyguard. Katherine Center can do no wrong.
My Review

2

“I’ll Be Home for Christmas”:
Name a book where a character is away from home (school, vacation, etc.)

When I was trying to pick one book for this prompt, I realized so many of my favorite books from this year featured main characters away from home. I narrowed it down to eight. 😉

3

“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”:
Name your favorite “little” book (children’s book, short story, novella, etc.)

By far, my favorite short reads this year were Oh. What. Fun. by Chandler Baker and If the Fates Allow by Rainbow Rowell. I’m currently participating in the blog tour and giveaway, so be sure to enter. It includes a $50 gift card!
My Review

4

“Santa Claus is Coming to Town“:
What book(s) do you hope Santa brings you this year?

Now that I’ve finally read Well Met, I can’t wait to get my hands on Well Played and Well Matched. I would love for them to show up under my tree!

5

“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”:
Which book turned your nose red (made you cry)?

Bittersweet and beautiful, Always, In December by Emily Stone is an emotional read.
My Review

6

“The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”:
Your favorite book/kind of book to read during the holidays

My favorite holiday reads are those that are quick, romantic, and very festive. Fool Me Twice at Christmas by Camilla Isley checked all those boxes, plus I laughed so much.
My Review

7

“We Three Kings”:
Your favorite trilogy

I only read one trilogy this year and it was The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han. While not my favorite of Han’s, I did enjoy this quick series during the summer.

8

“Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow”:
A character you would love to be snowed in with

Noelle or Sam from Eight Perfect Hours by Lia Louis. They already have experience for being stuck somewhere, thanks to the weather. 🙂
My Review

9

“Last Christmas”:
A book that seriously let you down

Unpopular opinion, but I was bummed that when I finally read Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid (I tried the audiobook and physical book), it didn’t wow me. But at least I finally crossed this one off my tbr.
My sort-of review: Should I Give Up on Audiobooks?

10

“White Christmas”:
An upcoming release you’re dreaming about

I can not WAIT to read Book Lovers by Emily Henry.

Have I included any of your favorites? Or one from your TBR?? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Wandering and Happy Holidays!

  1. I didn’t know Katherine Center had a book coming next year! I don’t even know what it’s about and I want to read it, haha. I’ll check out your review now 🙂

    1. Yes! I knew she had one coming, I just had no idea the ARCs would be out so quickly. It was such a fun surprise! And I adored the book. I hope you get to pick it up soon! <3

  2. Similar cat experience, but reverse. We found a beautiful stray, and we named her Cleo. We dropped her at the vet to be fixed, and well, we changed his name to Leo after learning he was boy. Center really can do no wrong. I have two more backlist to read, and then I will be ready for The Bodyguard.

  3. I was also let down by Daisy Jones, but I also am totally looking forward to Book Lovers (as well as the Bodyguard)!

    1. I was bummed that I didn’t love Daisy Jones, but I’ve had to finally accept that TJR’s books can be hit or miss for me. I’m soooo excited for Book Lovers. I would love an ARC but I know it probably won’t happen. 😉

  4. I haven’t read Center yet but I have two of her books! I need to get on it. haha. That book looks so cute! Also- I’m dying about your cat! hahaha!! <3 Your prompt suggestion is AMAZING. I have such trouble writing reviews on my most favorite books!
