Hello Readers! I had fun participating in the Trope-ical Readathon in August. It was my second time to participate, and I ended up reading 12 out of the 15 books I had planned, plus 1 extra book, which didn’t count for the challenges, but I was able to count for pages read. I ended up reading 6 backlist books and 7 ARCs! You can see my original post here.
All the rules and information for this challenge can be found @ JenJenReviews. There are a lot of details but they also have a YouTube video that helped me understand how each challenge works. Basically, you choose your team and each team gets points for challenges completed. But you don’t have to stick to the challenges, you can also get points just for pages read on any book you choose.
Point System
- Common Challenges: 50 POINTS EACH
- Team Challenges: 100 POINTS EACH
- Team Books: 150 POINTS EACH
- Pages Read: 1 POINT PER PAGE
Common Challenges
There were two options for the Common Challenges: read a book with the given trope OR one that satisfies the alternate prompt. I was able to complete 11 out of 13 of the Common Challenges, only switching or replacing a few of my originally planned books. I managed to read 5 books from my #20BooksOfSummer Challenge and 5 books off my Popsugar Reading Challenge, as well.

Team Challenge
I joined Team Romance since that was the genre I read the most from. However, I did not own or have on my TBR any of the Team Books listed for ANY of the categories, including Romance. So, I decided not to read a Team Book.
Team Challenges
- β Read a book with the “friends to lovers” trope – Luck and Last Resorts by Sarah Grunder Ritz (My Review) 4.5/5 stars
- β Read a book with the “bodyguard” trope – Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Pages Read
On the last day of the challenge, I was able to read From Thailand With Love by Camilla Isley, a shorter romance of only 205 pages, which didn’t count for any of my challenges, but I could count it for pages read. It also fulfilled a book on both of my other challenges, as well. 3.25/5 stars
