Book Challenge TBR

My August 2022 Trope-ical Readathon TBR

Hello Readers! I have a ton of books I need to read for August, and when I saw the Trope-ical Readathon was going on this month, I decided to join in. I enjoyed participating in 2021, and Readathons are usually the best way for me to be motivated to read a lot of books more quickly. Fingers crossed it works again!

All the rules and information for this challenge can be found @ JenJenReviews. There are a lot of details but they also have a YouTube video that helped me understand how each challenge works. Basically, you choose your team and each team gets points for challenges completed. But you don’t have to stick to the challenges, you can also get points just for pages read on any book you choose.

Point System

  • Common Challenges: 50 POINTS EACH
  • Team Challenges: 100 POINTS EACH
  • Team Books: 150 POINTS EACH
  • Pages Read: 1 POINT PER PAGE

Common Challenges

There are two options for the Common Challenges: read a book with the given trope OR one that satisfies the alternate prompt. There’s no way that I’ll get to all of these, but the options will give me plenty of room for mood reading. First I’ll be reading my ARCs for the month, then I’ll choose books from my #20BooksOfSummer Challenge and my Popsugar Reading Challenge.

Team Challenge

I’ve chosen Team Romance since that’s typically the genre I read the most from at the moment. However, I do not own or have on my TBR any of the Team Books listed for ANY of the categories, including Romance. Oops. With all my ARCs and other challenges to fulfill, it doesn’t make sense for me to purchase a new book right now. So, unless I happen to come across a great deal for one of these books, I won’t be reading a Team Book.

Team Challenges

  1. Read a book with the “friends to lovers” tropeLuck and Last Resorts by Sarah Grunder Ritz (ARC, 8/9/22)
  2. Read a book with the “bodyguard” tropeThrone of Glass by Sarah J. Maas (This one might be a stretch, but a guard is mentioned in the synopsis??)

Will you be participating in the Trope-ical Readathon? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Wandering!

  1. what a fun challenge. I’ll be rooting for you! I just loved Luck and Last Resorts, hope you do too!

  2. I think TOG works for bodyguard. I spy some great books. Tweet Cute is a favorite. I hope it leaves you happy and smiling like it did me. I started Bend Towards the Sun today. It’s wonderful! Wish & Co looks cute and Carrie Soto has caught my eye too. It could be my first TJR book

    1. Oh yay! Thank you for letting me know TOG works. I was searching for something to use that I already owned. Tweet Cute feels like it’s been waiting on my shelf forever. Gah, I loved Bend Toward the Sun. I already want to reread it. TJR is hit or miss for me, but I did like Malibu Rising. It’s great if you like books set in the 80s, too. Hopefully Carrie Soto works for me, as well.
