Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday: My Fall Bucket List

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is a Halloween Freebie!

Hello Readers! It’s Halloween!! But more importantly, Nanowrimo starts tomorrow. 😍 We’ve been getting a ton of rain and cooler weather, which makes Halloween so much more enjoyable, but today the sun is shining! Since all my children are adults now, it’s a much more quiet holiday for us, but quiet holidays are nice, too.

I was at a loss as to what to do for my Halloween freebie. I’d felt like I’d done all the usuals before. Then I remembered I’d seen Megan @ Wildwood Reads share her fall bucket list, which sounded like so much fun. I doubt I’ll get to all of these, but it’s fun to try! πŸ‚πŸŽƒπŸ

Let’s see what I hope to check off!

(Link to Goodreads synopsis through book title.)

1

Read under the changing leaves

This one might be extra hard to accomplish since here in Texas sometimes the leaves change so quick we don’t have time to enjoy them. It seems like they go from green to orange to brown to on the ground within two days. Maybe I need to travel for this one…. πŸ€”

2

Bake a cozy reading snack

I’ve already crossed this one off several times with pumpkin muffins, but I have a few other things I’d like to make, as well, including this Caramel Apple Dump Cake!

3

Read a cozy fantasy

I don’t have any cozy fantasies on my upcoming tbr, but maybe I can find a short story that would work?? Let me know if you have any recommendations!

4

Go hiking and bring a book

Photo byΒ Ben WhiteΒ onΒ Unsplash

We don’t hike too often, and we mostly do when we’re on vacation, but there are some nice mountain biking trails in our area that we’ve hiked a few times. I might be able to make this one happen!

5

Pick up a fall thriller

I think Belladonna by Adalyn Grace is technically more fantasy than thriller, but I think it could still count, right?! It’s on my tbr, and hopefully I can get to it!

6

Read a witchy romance

I read a few witchy romances last year, so I didn’t have any on my tbr for this fall, but I do have The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling waiting on my bookshelf. If I found the time, I could squeeze it in! πŸ˜ƒ

7

Read by candlelight

While this prompt sounds super atmospheric, my eyesight is sh*t! πŸ˜‚ Does it count if I just have a candle lit while I’m reading on my kindle?? Ha!

8

Drink a pumpkin spice latte

Done! As long as you count an ICED Chai pumpkin spiced latte. Ha! I’m sure I’ll have a few more…

9

Road trip to look at leaves

Like I said above, the changing leaves in my area are unpredictable (and scarce), so it might have to be quite a road trip to see some really nice ones. πŸ‚

10

Make a fall craft

First of all, I am not very crafty. I can be when forced—like I made several of my kids’ halloween costumes back in the day that I thought were pretty fabulous. BUT it’s not something I necessarily enjoy or seek out. I am loving this thrift-store-painting-ghost-trend going around, though. I just need someone else to do the actual painting! Megan @ Wildwood Reads tackled this craft like a champ! The closest I’ll probably get to crafting is fixing old decorations. πŸ˜†

Do you have a fall bucket list? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Wandering!

  1. This is a really fun list. I’ve done some baking here and there, too (more than recently) but I don’t think I’ve made any specific autumn or fall themed recipes. Hopefully before the year is out I will. πŸ™‚ Fun post.

  2. A great idea for a list. I’ve never had Pumpkin Spiced anything. I’m not a fan of spices so haven’t been brave enough to try it πŸ˜‚

My sons are 5 years old and 4 months old so Halloween is still pretty basic. We did have a special Halloween tea round my mum’s the other day though which was good fun.

    Happy Halloween!

    1. I’m not a fan of everything pumpkin. Sometimes it is too much. I prefer just a subtle hint of it. πŸ˜‰

Those are wonderful ages! Especially for keeping holidays simple and meaningful. <3

      1. I don’t think I’ve ever had anything pumpkin – unless my mum sneaked it onto my plate when I was younger πŸ˜‚

Exactly ❀️ and everything is magical. Christmas gets more exciting every year!

    1. Haha! Yeah, this may be my first bucket list ever, now that I think about it. I’m not putting too much pressure on myself. Mostly it was just fun to dream of. I am a list maker, though. I love crossing things off a list! πŸ˜‚

  3. That’s a fun idea for a list! I hadn’t seen the ghost painting trend before, but it’s a really cute idea. I think my fall bucket list is mostly centered around getting my house ready to host Thanksgiving dinner… including having my MIL stay with us for a few days…

Here’s my TTT for this week. Happy Halloween!

    1. Hosting family is so much work! We’ve done it a few times, too. It’s always one of those days that fly by too fast. Good luck with the MIL. I lucked out in that department. My MIL ended up going to college to become a teacher at the same time my husband and I went to college and we all commuted together for a few semesters. πŸ˜† It sounds so weird, but it wasn’t weird at the time. Ha!

  4. All of these sound like fun holiday experiences. I don’t know that I personally want to read by candlelight (too dark), but it goes with the season! Happy Halloween!

  5. I love the idea of a Fall bucket list. Here in the Phoenix area, we don’t have a traditional Fall either, so we have to travel, at least a couple hours away, to do things like leaf peep. We are getting cooler weather finally, thank goodness. Good luck with NaNoWriMo!

    Happy TTT!

    1. Ah, yes, you’re in a similar boat in Phoenix! But you do have such a beautiful view around you. It has been hot there, though. My husband was just in Phoenix for work a few weeks ago and he’s more used to going somewhere cooler than Texas. That was a change. πŸ˜ƒ Happy to hear your getting cooler weather now!

    1. I just had to count, but this is my tenth year doing Nanowrimo! Several years I just worked on existing projects, but this year I’m working on something brand new, which is always more fun. πŸ˜‰

  6. What a super great idea for this week’s TTT! I love your fall bucket list…especially the making a cozy snack and reading a cozy fantasy. Good luck. πŸ˜€
