Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is Books with Names/Character Names In the Titles (Submitted by BookLoversBlog and Lucy @ Bookworm Blogger).
Hello Readers! February is finally here. While January may have felt like it lasted forever, I enjoyed hunkering down and reading to my heart’s content. We have a chance of snow and ice this week here in Texas and we’re hoping it’s not another repeat of the snow blizzard of 2021. BUT I’m okay with more reading time.
I love today’s topic, and I thought this would be a fairly easy one, until I started perusing all the books on my Goodreads shelf. I had no idea how many books actually have names in the titles. So, I decided to pick five I’ve read and five from my TBR to make it easier.
Let’s see what I chose!
(Link to Goodreads synopsis through book title.)
Read and Enjoyed
- From Lukov With Love by Mariana Zapata – My most recent read, which I loved so very much, so of course I had to include it! This book about an ice skating pairs team would be perfect to read during the upcoming Winter Olympics!
- Dear Emmie Blue by Lia Louis – I will never stop shouting about how much I loved this book. (My review)
- The Invincible Summer of Juniper Jones by Daven McQueen – An emotional and impressive debut I don’t think I’ll ever forget. (My Review)
- Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple – This novel is perfect if you’re a fan of quirky families. I enjoyed the adaptation, as well.
- Fable by Adrienne Young – I was blown away by this YA fantasy. (My Review)
From my TBR
- Corinne by Rebecca Morrow – One of my upcoming ARCs, it’s a story about forbidden love and religious trauma.
- The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman – I was gifted this one from my TTT Bookish Wishlist Christmas post (thank you!!) and I’m excited to finally pick it up!
- Circe by Madeline Miller – After being floored by Miller’s Song of Achilles, I’m determined to read Circe this year.
- When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandya Menon – I’ve had this one on my shelf for a while, and I’d like to finally read it so I can watch the adaptation Mismatched that’s inspired by it on Netflix.
- My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell – This one is waiting on my shelf, as well. A psychological coming-of-age story about a student and teacher. So many of you raved about this one.
Have you read any of these? Do we share any picks? Let me know in the comments!
Great list, Dedra! Wow, my brain is not with it today cos I had a hard time coming up with a list of books on my TBR but there are a few on your list that I still want to read and I totally blanked on them π I loved Fable, Circe and Juniper Jones though!
This prompt ended up being harder than I thought, too! I thought surely I can just pull these out of my head, but when I couldn’t, I went to Goodreads. And then I was overwhelmed by how many titles have names! Ha!
Happy reading! These look like a great selection. I had a lot of books to choose from for this week’s topic, but then there are still lots more that I didn’t think of when I was writing my post. (Though, I went entirely from my TBR on purpose this week. It might have been harder if I was using only books I had already read?)

Yes! I was overwhelmed by how many books I’ve read and are on my TBR that have names in the titles. I couldn’t decide which way to go, so I did both. Haha! Heading over to see your picks now!
LOL, that sounds like a good way to balance the two lists!
Yeah, we are getting ready for a huge amount of snow here in Ohio. They do like to blow it up sometimes and I’m hoping that’s what it is. Plus, my new couch is supposed to be delivered on Saturday. haha! Anyways, I have Bookish Life of Nina Hill and My Dark Vanessa on my TBR too! Great list.
My Top Ten
They definitely tend to blow it up here, as well. We’re all just nervous after the power grid fiasco in February of last year. We don’t trust our people in charge at all. Haha! Hopefully we can both pick up Nina Hill and Vanessa sometime soon. π Stay warm!
I totally understand that!! I hope it’s not as bad but our rain started this morning so it seems on track so far. I hope it’s not as bad for both of us!! <3
We never even got snow here. Just freezing rain and ice. Ha! I hope it wasn’t too bad for you, as well!
Wow!! We got about TWO inches of ice and then 1.5-2 inches of snow on top of that! It was wild! We could hear the freezing rain all day. Crazy!
Oh wow! Y’all did get a lot! I think after our experience in 2021 we were okay with not getting too much. Ha!
From Lukov with Love is a reminder that I absolutely want to read something by Mariana Zapata this year!
Yay! I need to read more! Any recommendations? π
I am right there with you screaming about Emmie Blue. Really, superb. Nina Hill is, I think, my favorite Waxman book so far. I loved everything about it. I hope you enjoy it too.
Yay! I wish more people would pick up Emmie Blue. You’ve made me want to read Nina Hill even more. π
Great list! Fable made mine too – it’s such a fantastic read!!
Yay!! I still need to read Namesake. Hopefully soon!
Great list Dedra. I didn’t think about Fable, I did enjoy it a lot. I have read 4 of these and enjoyed them all.
Thank you Carla! Hopefully I can get to Namesake before I forget everything that happened in Fable. π
I enjoyed Namesake, but not as much as Fable. I hope you love it.
great list. there are a lot of books with character names in the titles. i need to read fable.

I was surprised by how many there were! And now I’m noticing it every day since I created this post. π Fable was amazing!
