Top Ten Tuesday: Book Titles With My Favorite Words

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is Favorite Words (This isn’t so much bookish, but I thought it would be fun to share words we love! These could be words that are fun to say, sound funny, mean something great, or make you smile when you read/hear them.)

Hello Readers! If you wander over to my ‘about me’ page you’ll see how I picked my blog name which includes one of my favorite words. I almost did an entire post with book titles that only included that one word, but I decided not to be so closed-minded. πŸ˜‰ There are plenty of other wonderful words to share, as well.

I was excited to see today’s prompt. As readers, we have to love words, right?! Maybe certain words have a deeper meaning for us, maybe they’re nostalgic, or maybe we just like the way they sound when we say them out loud. I decided to make this prompt bookish by searching Goodreads for titles I’ve read that include some of my favorite words. Spoiler alert: they’re all very romantic words. πŸ˜†

Let’s see what books I found!

(Link to Goodreads synopsis through book title.)

  1. Wander – “to travel about, on, or through”
    Wanderlost by Jen Malone
  2. Ember – “the smoldering remains of a fire”
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
  3. Soulmate – “a person with whom one has a strong affinity, shared values and tastes, and often a romantic bond”
The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren
  4. Twilight – “the soft, diffused light from the sky when the sun is below the horizon, either from daybreak to sunrise or, more commonly, from sunset to nightfall”
    Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
  5. Stardust – “a mass of distant stars appearing as tiny particles of dust” or “a naively romantic quality”
Rust & Stardust by T. Greenwood
  6. Fiery – “intensely hot” or “intensely ardent, impetuous, or passionate”
The Fiery Cross (Outlander, #5) by Diana Gabaldon
  7. Infinite – “unbounded or unlimited; boundless; endless”
The Infinite Sea (The 5th Wave, #2) by Rick Yancey
  8. Wallflower – “a person who, because of shyness, unpopularity, or lack of a partner, remains at the side at a party or dance” (I’ve often been described as a wallflower, and I take no offense. πŸ˜ƒ)
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
  9. Bonfire – “a large fire built in the open air, for warmth, entertainment, or celebration, to burn leaves, garbage, etc., or as a signal” (Apparently I have a thing for fire…)
Beneath the Bonfire by Nickolas Butler
  10. Midsummer – “the middle of summer” (Such a boring definition for such a pretty word.)
A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare

Do we share any favorite words? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Wandering!

  1. I couldn’t figure out how to do this week’s TTT, but your word choices and corresponding titles are perfect! Kudos. πŸ˜€

  2. Fun. I cannot say I was able to come up with a list of words I love, but you have some great ones here (and some great books too). Wanderlost is a favorite. Gosh. I felt sort of like them when I was visiting the Trapp Family Lodge this past spring. The hills were alive in VT

  3. Great list, Dedra. I love all those words as well. There are a few that are calling to me, so I will have to check them out. Many, I have already read.
