Top Ten Tuesday: Book Titles That Are Complete Sentences

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is Book Titles That Are Complete Sentences (Submitted by Jessica @ A Cocoon of Books).

Hello Readers! I hope you’re all doing well. We had an eventful weekend. My oldest daughter graduated from college (!!), and it was our first experience at being among a larger gathering of people since the pandemic started. It was a mixed bag of emotions, that’s for sure. Thankfully, among days of what seems like unending rain, it was nice that day. As I’m writing this, we’re back to more rain. It’s definitely spring in Texas.

Today we’re talking about book titles that are also complete sentences and I have to admit I found myself second guessing all my choices this week. Suddenly all my grammar skills flew out the window. Haha! I couldn’t figure out the best way to go about this, so I decided to just share the ten most recent additions to my TBR (to-be-read) that have titles with complete sentences. πŸ™‚

(Link to Goodreads synopsis through book title.)

  1. Meet Me at Midnight by Jessica Pennington – I noticed many book titles are simple imperative sentences that give commands, like my first five choices. This one sounds like a fun summer YA enemies-to-lovers romance.
  2. Meet Me in Paradise by Libby Hubscher – I’m super intrigued by this romance that centers on Marin, a worrier with a fear of traveling.
  3. Take Me Home Tonight by Morgan Matson – I’ve enjoyed every Matson book I’ve read. She’s so great at writing friends, and this one that takes place during a single night in New York City sounds delightful!
  4. Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry by Joya Goffney – Another YA enemies-to-lovers that’s being compared to To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. That’s enough for me!
  5. Act Your Age, Eve Brown (The Brown Sisters, #3) by Talia Hibbert – I really need to get caught up on my Brown Sisters books!
  6. Beautiful World, Where Are You by Sally Rooney – A new novel by the author of Normal People that will be released on 9/7/21. I’m anxious to see if this one will give me the same convoluted feelings as Normal People did.
  7. We Are the Brennans by Tracey Lange – I’m a fan of literary novels that focus on dysfunctional families. And this one about an Irish Catholic family with secrets is getting great early reviews. It will be available 8/3/21.
  8. We Were Never Here by Andrea Bartz – Thrillers aren’t my first choice but this book about friends, an annual trip, and a mysterious murder sounds intriguing. It will be available 7/13/21.
  9. We Are Inevitable by Gayle Forman – I’m a big fan of Forman, and when I read an excerpt of this one, I knew I wanted to read more. Aaron didn’t follow his friends to college so he could stay home and help his father with their failing bookstore. He’s in need of some big inspiration. Available 6/1/21!
  10. Everyone Dies Famous in a Small Town by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock – As someone from a small town, I couldn’t resist adding this YA anthology of short stories that all take place in small towns.

COMMENTING ISSUES:

Over the past few months I’ve been made aware of a commenting issue on my blog. You should receive a notice that all comments are manually approved, but if you think your comments aren’t going though, PLEASE reach out to me via email, Instagram, or Twitter! It’s the only way I know anything is wrong. I’ve been working on this issue with my blog host, my firewall, ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ, but I’m just about at my wits end. Ha! If you happen to self-host and have any advice (or could even recommend someone else), I would appreciate that, as well. Just know that I always answer TTT comments and return the visit, so I’m sorry if your comments have been falling into an internet black hole. <3

  1. I did notice that there are a lot of imperative sentence type titles on my read-shelf. I read four of these (and featured 3 on my list!), and I am eager to read the new Forman book. Love her stuff! Congratulations to the new graduate!

  2. Ooh what a fun topic for a TTT! I definitely feel like there are a load more long book titles these days especially in contemporary and romance. I love It 😍 Can’t wait to read quite a few of these!
