Top Ten Tuesday: Book Quotes That Offer Words of Advice or Encouragement

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is Book Quotes that Fit X Theme (Pick any theme you want, i.e., motivational quotes, romantic dialogues, hunger-inducing quotes, quotes that fill you with hope, quotes on defeating adversity, quotes that present strong emotions, healing, etc. and then select quotes from books that fit that theme.)

Hello Readers! We’re easing back into some form of pre-pandemic life around here in Texas. Now that we’re fully vaccinated, we visited our first restaurant in over a year, have returned to more in-person shopping, and we had some extended family over last night to celebrate our oldest daughter’s college graduation. It feels a little weird but also doesn’t… if that makes any sense. Haha!

I love to highlight passages when I read—whether that’s in an ebook or with a pencil in a physical book, so for this topic I took a look at my favorited quotes from the books I’ve read on Goodreads. I wanted to keep things mostly positive so I chose quotes that offer words of advice or encouragement, although some of them may be more a form of tough love. πŸ˜‰ Let’s see what books I ended up choosing quotes from!

  1. I love these, and since I read most of these books, they remind why I love those books so much. The cake one is one I can fully embrace.

  2. I love these. I would have been shocked if I didn’t see a Cassandra Clare book on this list!! I love that quote so much though! I totally know what you mean about starting to be a bit more normal.. it just feels so weird. We went into the grocery story without masks last night and it felt so WEIRD! We are fully vaccinated and I still am not comfortable without that thing yet. haha. Hopefully, it will get easier each time we go out! <3

    1. Haha! Of course I had to include Clare. πŸ˜‰ I’m glad to know I’m not the only one that’s not ready to jump back in to pre-pandemic normalcy. My youngest son just got his first vaccine a few days ago. I think I’ll feel better when we’re all fully vaccinated. I think it will get easier each time, too. <3

      1. Yes! It’s such a strange time. So much conflict within family too.. in regards to the vaccine. I’ll feel so much better when my kiddo is able to get his too. I mean, I know we can still get it but it’s not as deadly! I hope you are doing well!! <3

        1. Oh yes. Having family who don’t want to get the vaccine is hard. And frustrating. We have a lot of that here in Texas. We have family who had Covid and still won’t get the vaccine. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ But it’s great to see the cases keep going down. Such a relief!

          1. Yep, I will not understand it!! My dad had Covid and January and almost died. Like legit.. we had to call the ambulance and they told us if we would have waited longer, he wouldn’t have made it through the night. He was in the hospital over a week and then on oxygen at home for a month and a half. He has sooo many problems now but refuses to get it. Ugh. I am SO glad to see the cases going down too!! It feels like a huge weight has been lifted.

  3. I have only read two of these books, but these quotes make me wonder why I haven’t read more of them. Great choices Dedra.
