Last Christmas, my husband gifted me a subscription to The Strand’s The Book HookUp. We had visited New York City for the first time the previous Christmas, stopping in at The Strand bookstore, of course, so it was the perfect gift. What I love about this subscription is that it’s quarterly, so not a huge commitment. Boxes ship out in March, June, September, and December. The box comes with two books—typically one is a signed currently hyped book and the other is an advanced reader copy. And then it’s packed with bookish and local goodies. So it’s a bit of New York delivered right to my door!
My June box was delayed thanks to Covid-19. I received a previous box in March, but I forgot to share it, as well. Things were a bit crazy in March. π
Let’s wander in!
My box is a young adult box, but you can choose from a variety of boxes, including fiction, classics, and sci-fi. However, the prices differ for some of the boxes. There’s also a spoiler link on the website where you can see what the main title will be in your next box. I can never resist a peek. I was excited to see that Cinderella Is Dead would be included. The hype has been big for this updated fairytale, and I’ll be excited to pick it up! The June box had a Pride theme, which was a nice surprise.
What I found inside:
1
Cinderella is Dead by Kaylynn Bayron (Due to Covid-19 restrictions, it included a signed book plate instead of a signed copy of the book, which is perfectly understandable.)
2
A vinyl sticker of Earth that states, “No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world” from Fly Paper Products Literary Gifts
3
Cafe Grumpy Whole Bean Shamba Coffee from Burundi – it includes hints of Black Tea, Honey, Lemon Zest, & Lavender. (We’ve already made several pots of this coffee and it’s delicious! The story behind this coffee is very cool, too. Be sure to follow the link to read more about how it’s created. <3)
4
Historically Inaccurate by Shay Bravo – an advance reader’s copy
5
Gay Pride Rainbow Socks by Socksmith
6
Rainbow Sherbet sucker by Linda’s Lollies
7
Tea Kitten’s Roobios PiΓ±a Colada Karma tea from Sips by – also included was a coupon towards your first Sips by order. I’ve ordered several things from Sips by, and I highly recommend them. I had Mother’s Day themed boxes sent to my mom and mother-in-law this year, too.
I was very happy with my June box! My September box should be here soon, and I’ll be sure to share that one with you, as well. What’s your favorite subscription box? Let me know in the comments!
That box looks really nice. ?
It was a fun one!
That looks like fun! I don’t subscribe to any book boxes myself, but I enjoy seeing other people’s thoughts on them. π
There are so many out there! I always enjoy seeing them, too. π
