Hello Readers! My February tbr is going to be low pressure. I’m still not back to reading as much as usual, so I’m only including my ARCs for the month, the books I feel are more of a must-read. However, I will be traveling some with my husband this month as he travels for work, which means I might have more time for reading. We picked up a free companion pass through our airline for a few months, so we’re enjoying that as much as we can. I’ve already traveled to exciting Columbus, Ohio with him. π
Let me know if any of these are must-reads!
Even if it Breaks Your Heart by Erin Hahn
My current read, I’m about 30% into this one and I’m enjoying it so far. It’s YA, but doesn’t feel like YA. Very heavy subject matter.
Synopsis:
A heart-buckling ride of a romance by beloved author Erin Hahn, Even If It Breaks Your Heart is about two teens finding out that sometimes, the hardest part of discovering what you want is getting the courage to pursue it.
The only thing keeping nineteen-year-old Case Michaels together after the death of his best friend, Walker, is a list Walker left behind of things he wants Case to accomplish in his absence. So far, though, Case hasnβt even been able to continue riding bulls in the rodeo circuit, something heβs done his entire life, balking at the thought of competing without Walker by his side. But the list? Case is determined to follow it to the letterβ and he follows it all the way to Winnie Sutton.
Eighteen-year-old Winnie Sutton just wants to keep her family together. She graduated high school early to work long shifts at the Michaels family ranch so she can support her younger siblings and a father whoβs more than happy to let Winnie fill the responsible parent role. If she sometimes sneaks out to ride the horses herself and forget about life for a whileβ well, thatβs no one elseβs businessβ until the day she crashes headfirst into Case Michaels. Case sees her riding skills and immediately ropes her into competing for the ranch and becoming his friend.
Winnie and Case couldnβt be more different, but Case canβt help but be inspired by Winnieβs badly-hidden passion for riding and competition. And thereβs something about Case that makes Winnie want to try grasping onto a dream for herself, whether thatβs a shot at a rodeo trophy, the annoyingly handsome rancherβs son who wonβt leave her alone, or maybe both.

Bride by Ali Hazelwood
I’m super excited to get to Hazelwood’s venture into paranormal romance! I’m here for it.
Synopsis:
A dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance.
Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcastβagain. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchangeβagain…
Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. Itβs clear from the way he tracks Miseryβs every movement that he doesnβt trust her. If only he knew how right he wasβ¦.
Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she’s ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back whatβs hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territoryβ¦alone with the wolf.

Conditions of a Heart by Bethany Mangle
I’ve only committed to a spotlight post for this one because I wasn’t sure if I’d get it read in time for the publishing date, but I’m gonna try! This would be my second book by the author, and the early reviews are great.
Synopsis:
For fans of Talia Hibbert and Lynn Painter comes a funny and unflinchingly honest story about a teen who must come to terms with her disability and what it means for her identity, her love life, and her future.
Β
Brynn Kwan is desperate for her high school persona to be real. That Brynn is head of the yearbook committee, the favorite for prom queen, and definitely not crumbling from a secret disability thatβs rapidly wearing her down. If no one knows the truth about her condition, Brynn doesnβt have to worry about the pitying looks or accusations of being a faker that already destroyed her childhood friendships. Sheβs even willing to let go of her four-year relationship with her first love, Oliver, rather than reveal that a necessary surgery was the reason she ignored his existence for the entire summer.
But after Brynn tries to break up a fight at a pep rally and winds up barred from all her clubs and senior prom, she has nothing left to prop up her illusion of being just like everyone else. During a week-long suspension from school, she realizes that she doesnβt quite recognize the face in the mirrorβand itβs not because of her black eye from the fight. With a healthy sister who simply doesnβt understand and a confused ex-boyfriend who wonβt just take a hint and go away like a normal human being , Brynn begins to wonder if itβs possible to reinvent her world by being the person she thought no one herself.

Expiration Dates by Rebecca Serle
This is a March ARC, but I’m hoping to get to it this month. I’ve read and enjoyed three of Serle’s previous books. Readers tend to like or dislike Serle’s style, but I’m a fan. She’s an author that can weave in magical realism and make it work for me.
Synopsis:
Being single is like playing the lottery. Thereβs always the chance that with one piece of paper you could win it all.
From the New York Times bestselling author of In Five Years and One Italian Summer comes the romance that will define a generation.
Daphne Bell believes the universe has a plan for her. Every time she meets a new man , she receives a slip of paper with his name and a number on itβthe exact amount of time they will be together. The papers told her sheβd spend three days with Martin in Paris; five weeks with Noah in San Francisco; and three months with Hugo, her ex-boyfriend turned best friend. Daphne has been receiving the numbered papers for over twenty years, always wondering when there might be one without an expiration. Finally, the night of a blind date at her favorite Los Angeles restaurant, thereβs only a Jake.
But as Jake and Daphneβs story unfolds, Daphne finds herself doubting the paperβs prediction, and wrestling with what it means to be both committed and truthful. Because Daphne knows things Jake doesnβt, information thatβif he found outβwould break his heart.
Told with her signature warmth and insight into matters of the heart, Rebecca Serle has finally set her sights on romantic love. The result is a gripping, emotional, passionate, and (yes) heartbreaking novel about what it means to be single, what it means to find love, and ultimately how we define each of them for ourselves. Expiration Dates is the one fans have been waiting for.

Have you read any of these books yet? Let me know in the comments!
The Hahn book was an interesting YA, and I agree, didn’t quite feel YA. I think it’s because a lot of the story involved their work lives and planning their futures. The characters felt a little older, but I did love this book. I hope you do, too.
I definitely agreed about it feeling older. I kinda wish she would have written it for adults, more like Friends Don’t Fall in Love. π€
I really like the sound of most of these books! Adding Even If It Breaks Your Heart, Conditions of a Heart and Expiration Dates to my TBR list x
Oh yay!! I would love to hear what you think of them if you read them.
I would say Hahn’s YAs are mature YAs and are more like NA. I am glad you’re enjoying it!
They definitely read like that. I kinda wish she would just embrace it and lean more into it. π
She has said this is her last YA book.
That Erin Hahn book does sound good. And I want to read Bride sometime this year. I really like Ali Hazelwood. Hope you enjoy your traveling this month…even if you’re not goint to super exciting places, at least you’re getting away. π
I enjoyed Hahn’s book and I’m currently reading Bride, which is very good. Yes, any travel is usually good travel when it’s been a while. π
I hope you enjoy your TBR and your travels π I haven’t read any of Ali Hazelwood’s contemporary books but I do like the sound of her paranormal romance.
Bride is my current read and I’m enjoying it! It feels a bit like Twilight fan fiction, if that’s something you’re into. π
This sounds like a fun TBR for a short month. I hope you enjoy the books!
February always tends to fly by after January is so slow, right?!
