Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is Titles with Animals In Them and/or Covers with Animals On Them (submitted by Rachel @ Sunny Side)
Hello Readers! I hope you’re all well and had a lovely weekend. I’m relieved this is a fairly straight forward topic this week because I’m working on it last minute. π I’m sorry it’s mostly filled with romances, which seems to be my theme lately, but animals make the most appearances in that genre on my bookshelves. I’m sharing five books I’ve read and enjoyed and five on my TBR, including a few ARCs I recently added. And there are at least two literary fiction novels among those five. π
Let’s see what I found!
(Link to Goodreads synopsis through book title.)
Books I’ve Read
- Hello Stranger by Katherine Center – An upcoming summer release by Center, this one wasn’t my favorite of hers, but it still has a lot of offer—a unique plot, memorable leading characters, and, of course, a cute pup, who you might have to look extra hard for on the cover.
- Off the Map by Trish Doller – This super cute romance set in Ireland has several animals that make a memorable appearance, including the sheep on the cover.
- The Key to My Heart by Lia Louis – One of my favorite books from last year by one of my favorite authors, this romance features a sly fox, which you might have to search for a bit on the cover.
- The Suite Spot by Trish Doller – Doller is an author who always seems to feature animals in her books, and this one has a persnickety cat.
- Sweet Love and Country Roads by Camilla Isley – This one is a bit more obvious. This rom-com is set on a farm featuring many animals, with notable appearances.
Books From My TBR
- Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute by Talia Hibbert – Am I reaching a bit with this one? Maybe, but there are birds on the cover, and since it’s set around a camping trip, I’m willing to bet there are more animals within the pages.
- The Dog of the North by Elizabeth McKenzie – I adored this author’s book The Portable Veblen, which features a very memorable squirrel, so I can only imagine the hijinks involved in her latest novel.
- If We’re Being Honest by Cat Shook – I was just invited to read this contemporary fiction novel about a dysfunctional family following the death of their patriarch. And I love a good dysfunctional family novel. I have no idea if animals make an appearance in this one, but there’s a cute dog on the cover. π
- The Roommate Pact by Allison Ashley – Another book I recently added to my ARC tbr, I spy a cute pup on the cover of this romance that is getting glowing early reviews.
- Last Call at the Local by Sarah Grunder Ruiz – I’ve only read one book so far from this author, but I quickly became a fan, so of course her next release is on my tbr. And I’m loving the cover which features a black, fluffy kitty.
Have you read any of these? Did you add any to your TBR? Let me know in the comments!
I see so many raves for Katherine Center but have yet to try anything by her. Hopefully soon, though!
Yes! I’m pretty sure you would like her. I’d recommend starting with Happiness for Beginners or How to Walk Away!
Very cute!

Lots of great ones on this list and some that have piqued my interest. Wonderful choices, Dedra.
I hope you find something you like, Carla!
The Roommate Pact seems like a book I would love to have on my TBR *runs to Goodreads*
Here’s my TTT if you wanna stop by <33
Haha! I know. I couldn’t say no to it. π
Animals on book covers are so cute! I love the covers you chose here.
This was a fun (and easy) topic this week! π
I had some fun playing spot the animal with some of these covers!

Yay!! I tried to do that with all ten but I couldn’t find enough on my shelves. π
Totally fair!
I don’t know how I didn’t spot that cutie on Center’s cover before now π Great picks!
He’s hiding quite well among the flowers. π
Great list! (I found the fox. π ) Don’t fret about featuring mostly one genre, though… my list is heavily weighted with cozy mysteries this week!

Oooh, there are a lot of animals on cozy mysteries. Another reason I need to finally read some. π
These have such cute covers! I love that they’re so cartoony, and the animals are hidden–I hadn’t spotted half of the ones you did. Great post!

It took some zooming in on my computer to find them. π
I love that, though–it’s like one of those search-and-click games!
Several of these sound really fun! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
I hope you found some to try!
Romances have the best covers! These are all so cute. And some are romances I’ve read and loved. Great TTT list. π
I agree! Happy reading!
Hello Stranger and Dog of the North both sound fun. I loved The Body Guard so I hope Hello Strange is as good.
Hello Stranger wasn’t my favorite of hers, but it was still very cute!
So many good ones! I just got a copy of The Roommate Pact in the mail today. So excited to start it. π
Yay!! I hope we both enjoy it!
I still need to try one of Katherine Center’s books! Her covers are always so eye catching and fun. π
Yes! She has so many great ones. I’d recommend Happiness for Beginners, How to Walk Away, or Things You Save in a Fire to start with. π
Cute covers! I hope you enjoy the ones you haven’t read yet.
Thank you! <3
