Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is Love Freebie (in honor of Valentineβs Day tomorrow)
Hello Readers! It’s our annual Love Freebie in honor of Valentine’s Day. Every year I try to come up with something new and different, but this year I was drawing a big ole’ blank. I decided to keep it simple and check out what Goodreads recommends for me in the Romance genre. I was a little surprised! I didn’t recognize 7 out of the 10 authors recommended. And apparently they think I need more Fantasy Romance in my reading life. Let me know if you’ve read any of these. β€οΈ
Here are my past Valentine Freebies, if you’d like to take a look:
- 2020 – Top Ten Tuesday: My Book Soundtrack | Love Song Edition
- 2021 – Top Ten Tuesday: My Book Soundtrack | Love Song Edition, Vol. II: Tropes
- 2022 – Top Ten Tuesday: Romance Novels That Deserve To Be Adapted (A few of these have been rumored to have adaptations in the works!)
- 2023 – Top Ten Tuesday: Love Stories with Adaptations Iβm Excited to Watch (I’ve now watched 6 of these and recommend them! I need to do an updated post.)
Let’s see what Goodreads recommends to me!
(Link to Goodreads synopsis through book title.)
- Heartless Hunter (Crimson Moth, #1) by Kristen Ciccarelli – A young adult fantasy romance about a witch and a witch-hunter. And the ratings are great so far. I’m intrigued!
- Fourth Wing (The Empyrean, #1) by Rebecca Yarros – This is one I have definitely seen around. Everywhere. π
- Fangirl Down (Big Shots, #1) by Tessa Bailey – Bailey is also an author I’ve seen around for years but never read. Several of her other books are on my tbr, though.
- Divine Rivals (Letters of Enchantment, #1) by Rebecca Ross – Another young adult fantasy enemies-to-lovers romance with excellent reviews. I’m kinda surprised I haven’t heard about this one.
- Eleven Eleven by Micalea Smeltzer – This sounds like it’s in the vein of Colleen Hoover?? But I could be wrong. I’ve never heard of this author.
- To Have and to Hoax (The Regency Vows, #1) by Martha Waters – I have seen this regency historical fiction romance around, but I’m not too impressed by the reviews.
- Mr. Big Shot by R.S. Grey – I’ve also seen this author around for years but never picked her up. I’d like to give her a try, but I don’t think I’d start with this one. Let me know if you’ve read one of her books you’d recommend!
- Love Redesigned (Lakefront Billionaires, #1) by Lauren Asher – Hmmm. I’ve never heard of this author either, and I’m not very intrigued by a romance about Lakefront Billionaires.
- Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber – I feel like I’ve seen this one around. It’s another young adult fantasy, but this one’s about vampires.
- Never Meant to Stay by Trisha Das – And finally, a contemporary romantic comedy set in Delhi. This one sounds more like me. π
Would you recommend any of these to me? Let me know in the comments!
This topic was honestly very creative! I have only read Fourth Wing in this list but quite of few of them are on my tbr!
My TTT: https://myromantasylife.blogspot.com/2024/02/books-with-love-in-title.html
I don’t know if it was creative, but it was super easy. I may need to do one for each genre. π Fourth Wing is super popular right now.
I hope you do write that update post! I like seeing updates about what folks read or watched and what they thought of them. π
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
I’m gonna pencil it in right now for the next time I need something new. π
Great choice of topic! I think I’m going to bookmark it for another TTT freebie day π I read Divine Rivals this year and I already know it’s going on my top 2024 reads! It was fantastic! I’m very curious about Heartless Hunter. It looks great. I hope you enjoy these books if you pick any of them up!
It’s super easy. I may do more genres. π Since I’ve made this post, I’ve seen Divine Rivals several places, including a bookstore, so I was probably just not paying attention. π I may need to add that one to my tbr! Especially if you liked it that much. Heartless Hunter piqued my attention, too!
Asking Goodreads is a creative way to fill out a post! Very fun.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
It was super easy!
Youve made me want to read once upon a broken heart. i dont read romance as a general rule, but i like ya/romance…theyre simple and usually sweet. i like the awww moments. https://getlostinlit.blogspot.com/2024/02/top-ten-worlds-id-never-want-to-live-in.html
Oh yay! I would love to hear your thoughts if you read it. <3
Wow, I haven’t heard of most of these books or authors either! And I agree, that last one sounds the most interesting to me as well.
Here’s my TTT this week: https://bookwyrmknits.com/2024/02/13/top-ten-tuesday-quotes-for-galentines-day/
Yeah, it made me feel pretty out of touch with the book community. π
I’ve read all of Yarros’s book. Fourth Wing is good, but I love her contemporary romances more. I’ve also read Bailey, Grey, Asher, and Garber.
Oooh, I guess I didn’t even know Yarros had contemporary romances! Or else I just didn’t put the names together. I definitely want to read Bailey and Grey someday.
Yes, she has a couple of series and then several standalones. All very good.
Fourth Wing was pretty cool!
So many readers have loved that one!
I am kind of surprised you have not read Bailey. I think my first book by her was Fix Her Up. I read a few of her backlist, and I think her newer books are better.
I’m surprised too! I’ve had several of her books on my tbr for years. I think I’ve just gotten overwhelmed by where to start. Thanks for the tips!
I like her newer ones, if you are looking for a starting point
This is such a fun way to adapt the love freebie! I’ve read one of Bailey’s books and liked it but not enough to read any other of her books yet. Hope you enjoy the ones you read x
I had fun with it! I especially loved how easy it was. π
I haven’t read any of these, so I’m not sure what to say about them. I do know I tried to read a Tessa Bailey book last year and quit after page 10.

I think maybe that’s why I haven’t committed to a Bailey book. I’ve noticed the mixed reviews.
What a great way to come up with this week’s top ten. I have never done that, but need to give it a try. I haven’t read any of these, Dedra, but if you do, I hope you enjoy them all.
I have to admit I got the idea from someone else, but I can’t remember who. Ha! It was fun and easy!
