Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is Forgotten Backlist Titles (Spread love for books that people donβt talk about much anymore!)
Hello Readers! Oh so quickly we’ve made it to August. I’ve decided to participate in the Trope-ical Readathon again, attempting to stretch my summer out as long as possible. Although, I’m sure it’ll feel like summer here in Texas until mid-October. Maybe longer. I hope you’re staying cool wherever you are! π
Today we’re looking at backlist books we’ve forgotten about. Which is fitting because one of my goals this year is to read more off my backlist and existing shelves. In January, I shared 10 Backlist Books I’m Determined to Read in 2023. I’m bummed to say I’ve only read one book from that list so far. π¬ However, I did join Kal @ Reader VoraciousβΒ Project Backlist Reading Challenge, committing to read an average of at least 2 backlist books a month, and I’m happy to say I’ve read an average of about 3 backlist books a month! For today’s topic, I took a look at my Goodreads ‘Want-to-Read’ list and picked the first ten books I had no memory of adding. I’m hoping some of you can help me decide if they should stay on my TBR.
Let’s see what books I’ve forgotten about!
(Link to Goodreads synopsis through book title.)
- I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios – Young Adult
- The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis – Young Adult
- Speak Easy, Speak Love by McKelle George – YA, Historical Fiction, Shakespeare Retelling
- Cantoras by Carolina De Robertis – Historical Fiction
- Across a Broken Shore by Amy Trueblood – YA, Historical Fiction
- This Is How It Always Is by Laurie Frankel – Adult Fiction
- We Came Here to Forget by Andrea Dunlop – Adult Fiction
- Every Other Weekend by Abigail Johnson – Young Adult
- The Art of Breaking Things by Laura Sibson – Young Adult
- Fled by Meg Keneally – Historical Fiction
Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments!
I own Every Other Weekend (it does sound interesting) and have Speak Easy, Speak Love (I’ve heard it’s unique!) on my shelf, too! Hope we both enjoy the backlist books we (eventually) read. π
Oh ok! I do love unique. π
I am always interested in backlist titles, especially those that have been somewhat overlooked. Good luck on your quest!
It’s like finding a hidden treasure, right?! π
Stretching summer out is a good idea. π
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
Always!
I read three of these – all earned high ratings. Johnson’s books are always lovely, and I’ll Meet You There and Speak Easy Speak Love were fantastic. I hope you get to them.
Oh good! Sounds like those three should stay on my tbr. π
I’ve not read any of these but I hope you enjoy whichever ones you decide to read!

Thank you!

I have Every Other Weekend on my TBR and I totally forgot it was on there despite being super excited to get my hands on a copy (still haven’t yet either, lol). π Great list! I hope you enjoy these books whenever you get to them, Dedra!
It seems to be the one everyone has on their tbr. Sounds like it needs to stay on mine. π
I haven’t read any of these titles either, but I remember wanting to read I’ll Meet You There.
The story sounds great!
I remember so many of these, especially Every Other Weekend and demetrios’.
Those seem to be the most popular on my list.
I haven’t read any of theseβin fact, I think The Female of the Species is the only one I remember hearing of! I hope you enjoy these if you decide to read them!

Thank you! Knowing me, they’ll probably continue to languish on the tbr. π
I love Mindy McGinnis’ books, but I haven’t read that particular one either. One of these days!
Happy TTT!

Oh ok. That’s good to hear!
I haven’t read any of those books. Hopefully you get to read a couple of them this year!
Thank you Lucy!
An interesting list, Dedra. I haven’t hear of any of these, so if you read one and it is wonderful, let me know.
