Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is Bookish Characters (these could be readers, writers, authors, librarians, professors, etc.)
Hello Readers! I hope you’re all well and safe. If you caught my Little Life Update, last week wasn’t my best. But I’m feeling much better and just in time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday!
I’m not sure if it’s a new trend or one I’m just finally noticing, but I’m loving all the romances with bookish couples and settings. So I’m twisting today’s topic a bit to look at five books with literary couples I’ve read and enjoyed and five waiting on my to-be-read list. Let me know in the comments if you know of others I should add to my tbr! π
Let’s see what I picked!
(Link to Goodreads synopsis through book title.)
Read and Enjoyed
- January and Augustus in Beach Read by Emily Henry – It seems like this is the book that kicked off the latest bookish couple trend, and there’s a reason why. For me it was a perfect book. (My Review)
- Athena and Thorne in Blame It on the BrontΓ«s by Annie Sereno – I adored this charming bookish romance set in a cafΓ©! (My Review)
- Lucy and Joshua in The Hating Game by Sally Thorne – I just finally read this romance set in the publishing world and I could kick myself for waiting so long to pick it up. So adorable!
- Savannah and Will in Meet Me in the Margins by Melissa Ferguson – A more recent romance set in the publishing world, this was the sweetest surprise. (My Review)
- Wendy and Riven in Home for Christmas by Camilla Isley – These two writers are forced to cohabitate along with their families over Christmas and hijinks ensue. (My Review)
From my TBR
- Nora and Charlie in Book Lovers by Emily Henry – I’d had plans to pick up Henry’s latest bookish romance in-store, but thanks to my bad week, I ended up ordering it. It’s supposed to arrive today!
- Lanie and Noa in By Any Other Name by Lauren Kate – This romance set in the publishing world about an editor and a writer with writer’s block sounds cute!
- Rosie and Jane in Read Between the Lines by Rachel Lacey – One of my Amazon First Reads choices, I have this romance about a bookstore owner falling for her favorite author penciled in to fulfill a Popsugar Reading Challenge prompt.
- Katrina and Nathan in The Roughest Draft by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka – I’m super intrigued by this romance about writers written by a husband and wife writing duo!
- Izzy and Beau in By the Book by Jasmine Guillory – I couldn’t help recently adding this one to my tbr after seeing so many of you enjoying it!
Have I included any of your favorite bookish couples? Let me know in the comments!
These all look like great fun reads and I love the brightness of their covers!
These are my favourite bookish characters.
Bookish books have some of the best covers, don’t they?!
I haven’t read Beach Read yet but that was one of the first books I thought of for this week’s prompt. So many books on here that I can’t wait to read. Great list, Dedra! π
I hope you can pick up Beach Read soon! I still need to reread it. Maybe this summer… π
I like the way you broke this up into read and want to read. I have many of these on my list too! I forgot about The Hating Game and Beach Read. I probably could have done a top 20!
Yes! I could have done a top 20, too. I briefly considered it. Haha!
These are some great picks! Two of themβBeach Read and Meet Me in the Marginsβare on my TBR, but I didn’t include them on my list this week because I stuck with Bookish Librarians only.

Bookish Librarians is a great choice! There’s something so comforting about books set in a library. π
Thank you! I just love libraries in general, so I love seeing them in fiction, too.
If I could think of one way to make a romance better for me, it is for it to involve bookish couples. You know I loved Brontes, and Beach Read, The Hating Game, and By Any Other Name were fabulous for me too. Now I want to scan my shelves for bookish couples.
Same! Bring me all the bookish couples! π
Great twist Dedra. It is nice to see something different.
Thanks Carla! My brain is always looking for ways to twist a prompt to romance. Haha!
I’m not really a romance reader, I had no idea so many romances involved books!

It might just be a current trend, but there are a lot lately! π
Well that’s nice to hear!
Bookish romance novels? I need to check all these out!
I hope you get to try a few out. And enjoy them! π
Great list! By the Book and Roughest Draft are on my TBR too!! I hope we both enjoy them!
Yes! They both sound so cute. π
