Book Tag Bookending Winter Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday/Bookending Winter: Christmas Songs Book Tag MashUp!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is a Holiday Freebie, so I decided to do the same mash-up I did last year, combining TTT, Jana’s Christmas Song Book Tag, and my first Bookending Winter post of the season, which is hosted by Sam @ Fictionally Sam and Clo @ Cuppa Clo! Be sure to check out all these wonderful sites and join in the fun!

I will be limiting my choices to books I read for the first time this past year!

(Link to synopsis on Goodreads through the book title.)

1

“All I Want for Christmas Is You”:
Favorite bookish couple.

Jonah and Calla
It was hard to choose this year… I read a ton of books with great couples, but the series that gave me the most couple-y feels was The Simple Wild and Wild at Heart.

2

“I’ll Be Home for Christmas”:
Name a book where a character is away from home (school, vacation, etc.).

The main characters in The Last Continent are as far from home as you can get without leaving the planet.

3

“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”:
Name your favorite “little” book (children’s book, short story, novella, etc.).

I finally read 84, Charing Cross Road, a small epistolary non-fiction book, and it was delightful!

4

“Santa Claus is Coming to Town“:
What book(s) do you hope Santa brings you this year?

I’ve been wanting to read Clap When You Land ever since I read With the Fire on High. Hopefully in 2021!

5

“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”:
Which book turned your nose red (made you cry)?

I tried hard to avoid sad books this year! Dear Emmie Blue definitely had me misty-eyed, but in the best way.

6

“The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”:
Your favorite book/kind of book to read during the holidays.

I love festive or winter-themed reads in December. My current read is Christmas at Frozen Falls.

7

“We Three Kings”:
Your favorite trilogy.

I finally finished the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Series this year. The last book, Always and Forever, Lara Jean was my favorite of them all. <3

8

“Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow”:
A character you would love to be snowed in with.

Definitely Easton from Enjoy the View! And bonus, he could probably dig us out. 🙂

9

“Last Christmas”:
A book that seriously let you down.

I had a great reading year and didn’t hate anything I read, but Again Again didn’t quite live up to my expectations.

10

“White Christmas”:
An upcoming release you’re dreaming about.

One of my most anticipated releases in 2021 is Namesake. I requested an arc of Fable on a whim and fell head over heels for it.

Have I included any of your favorites? Or one from your TBR?? I hope you decided to join in on Jana’s tag or Bookending Winter! Let me know in the comments!

Happy Wandering and Happy Holidays!

  1. This is so fun, Dedra! Love that you combine these two things. I’d like to read Emmie Blue, but first I’ll have to be in the right frame of mind to read a sad novel. Oh, and Sarah’s Alaskan books sound SO FUN!! 🙂

    1. Oh Emmie Blue isn’t really sad! I’m sorry that was misleading. Emmie has had a hard life, but it’s more about her finding herself. It made me misty-eyed because it was heart-warming. <3

LOVED The Moose Springs books! I hope you can pick them up soon!

  2. Oh this was so fun! I agree on the disappointing reads- I had a pretty good reading year, but I’m on Shatter Me now, and I have to say I am disappointed ?

    1. Oh yay! I’m heading over to check out your tag.

I hope you can pick up The Simple Wild soon. I had it on my tbr for a long time, and once I finally read it, I wished I hadn’t waited so long. 😉

      Happy Reading!

  3. Emmie Blue was the BEST surprise for me. It was true up-lit, because I was shedding tears left and right, but then it was all joy. Adored it! I hope you get to read Clap When You Land. It was wonderful and the ending stuck with me. There was something so beautiful about it. I do love Calla and Jonah even if Calla got on my nerves a bit in the second book. Yes! Easton was fantastic. I loved getting to know him better.

    1. I’m so happy you enjoyed Emmie Blue, too! It’s one that deserves all the attention. I hope more people discover it! Clap When You Land is at the top of my wishlist! I’ve heard several people say Calla annoyed them a bit, but I actually liked the second book even more than the first. Or maybe I was just so wrapped up in the story I didn’t notice she was annoying?? Ha!
