Top Ten Tuesday is now hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is Book Titles That Sound Like They Could Be Crayola Crayon Colors (Take a moment and Google some of the crazy Crayola crayon colors that exist. Can you think of any book titles that sound like they could also be a crayon color? It might be fun to include a description of the kind of color you’re picturing.)
Hello Readers! I hope you’re all doing well. Long rant warning! I’ve spent much of the last week working on the boring aspects of blogging: security. If you’ve been commenting or trying to comment on my blog for the past month, you may have encountered problems. I’ve only been blogging for a year and a half, and for the first year, everything went wonderfully. Then somehow hackers were able to get in through a back door and redirect my website—two weeks in a row!—and ever since I’ve been bumbling along as I learn things I never cared to learn about. I eventually switched hosts and firewalls, but that resulted in legitimate comments getting blocked, so I switched firewalls AGAIN. All I really want to do is read and talk about books, so while I’ve had moments where I’ve wanted to give up, I’m determined to not let them win.
A little history: I ended up with a self-hosted blog simply because I already owned my domain. If I would have known what that would entail, I probably would have stuck with a WordPress hosted blog. But here we are. PLEASE reach out via email, Instagram, or Twitter if you encounter problems. Unfortunately, it’s the only way I know it isn’t working. THANK YOU to those who have reached out! And please know that I intend to reply to each comment and return the visit, so I apologize if I haven’t been able to do that. AND if you’re an experienced blogger with a self-hosted WordPress website, feel free to share any tips! 😉 Thank you for your patience! <3 <3
Okay, enough ranting. I had so much fun with today’s topic! I’m not very familiar with Crayola color names now that my kids are all beyond the coloring age, but I had so much fun imagining book titles as Crayola names! I would buy a box of these colors. 😉
(Link to Goodreads synopsis through book title.)
1
Lady Sunshine
Lady Sunshine would be a very pale yellow to complement this gorgeous book cover. The next novel by Amy Mason Doan is at the top of my tbr. It’s a historical fiction novel that combines all my favorites—books, music, and romance. Available 6/29!
2
The Night Swim
The Night Swim would be a dark, almost navy blue crayon with a light shimmer. I enjoyed reading Megan Goldin’s thriller last year about a true crime podcast host that can’t resist diving deeper into the mystery. My Review
3
Written in My Own Heart’s Blood
Written in My Own Heart’s Blood might win for longest crayon name, but it would be a deep red with a hint of black. It’s the eighth book in the Outlander series, and on my tbr. But so far I’ve only made it through book six. 😉
4
Winterwood
Winterwood would be a grayish brown with flecks of white, perfect for coloring your winter forests. This gorgeous edition of the book came in an Owlrate box. I love the cover and the title, but I’ve yet to read it.
5
Blue Lily, Lily Blue
Blue Lily, Lily Blue might sound redundant, but it would be absolutely necessary for this luminescent crayon with shades of pale blue and purple. The third book in The Raven Cycle, it might be my favorite book in the series.
6
Dandelion Wine
Dandelion Wine is just begging to be a crayon color, right?? But while you might think it would be in a shade of purple, it would be a surprising bright shimmery yellow.
7
Shadow and Bone
Shadow and Bone would be a matte white crayon with strips of black and gray swirled through. I finally read this trilogy last year and now I’m super excited for the new adaptation! My Random Thoughts While Binge-Reading the Shadow and Bone Trilogy
8
Nantucket Blue
Nantucket Blue would be a pale blue with a hint of aquamarine, perfect for shading in the water on your beach drawings. This YA novel has been sitting on my shelf for years. Maybe someday I’ll finally pick it up.
9
All Systems Red
All Systems Red would be a bright neon red crayon, perfect for your Star Wars themed coloring book…. or Rudolph’s red nose?? I couldn’t ignore the hype for The Murderbot Diaries. It’s on my tbr, but I’ve yet to pick it up.
10
Bitter Orange
Bitter Orange would be a shiny dark orange color, perfect for shading in the reflection of the setting sun on your beach picture. I added this novel to my tbr when it first came out, but I’ve noticed readers either love it or hate it. Should I keep it on my tbr?
Do you have a favorite crayon color? Let me know in the comments!
Happy Wandering!
COMMENT ERRORS??
I’ve been made aware of a commenting error issue. I’ve recently switched blog hosts and added a new Firewall—which I’m afraid has been eating comments. Please know that I typically reply to every comment and return the visit. I apologize if you’ve commented the past few weeks and your comment disappeared. I would be so grateful if you’d reach out via email, instagram, or twitter and let me know if you experience any problems commenting. Thank you for your patience and for being the best blogging community! <3 <3
this is such a fun top ten tuesday topic!! i definitely agree with what you put for shadow and bone, and i’m also so excited for the adaptation!!
i’m sorry that you’ve been having trouble with blog security ☹️ i hope that it gets better though, and that you’ve figured it all out!
anyways, great post 🥰
Thank you!! I definitely had fun with the topic this week. 🙂
I’m holding my breath, but things seem to be working better. It was nice to finally wake up to comments again. <3
So sorry you went through this. What a pain! Glad you were able to resolve it though. What a pretty post. I think Night Swim is my favorite. I would be curious about that color
Thank you! Fingers crossed I’ve resolved it… it was nice to finally wake up to comments again. 🙂
I like these suggestions, Dedra. Nice tie ins to the books.
Thank you Carla! <3
Bitter Orange is perfect!
These are the books titles I thought sounded like those Crayola colours!
Thank you! <3
Omg, you did a fantastic job with this week’s prompt! I love the pictures you chose to put alongside the books cos it really made the colours you’ve described come even more alive 😍 Sorry to hear you’re still having trouble with the comments, Dedra! I hope it gets sorted out soon ❤️ Great post today!
Dini!! It’s so nice to see your comment here. Fingers crossed the comments are working again. <3 I had a lot of fun with this week's prompt. It was nice to do something completely different. :)
Great list! Blue Lily, Lily Blue sounds like an awesome color.
Thank you! <3
Great list! When I was a kid I wasn’t always sure about crayons that were one main color with a stripe of an accent color, but I appreciate them more now. I love how you incorporate that into your picks.
My TTT: https://bookwyrmknits.com/2021/04/13/top-ten-tuesday-crayola-crayon-titles/
Thanks Nicole! Oh, so crayons with stripes are a real thing?? I thought I was making that up. Haha! It’s been a while since I’ve used crayons. 🙂
Well, maybe Crayola crayons don’t have stripes? I’m not sure. But I know I had some rainbow striped crayons when I was a kid, and they bugged me because I’d be using one color and then it would change before I was done with whatever I was working on. 😀
Hi Dedra! First of all, sorry that you have a problem with hackers. I do hope that I am not one of those whose message gets lost in the spiders network….Good luck with getting everything sorted out!
And then – what a lovely post! Loved it. I can see a few of those colors. Especially Lady Sunshine and Winterwood. Great selection.
Happy TTT and here’s my Ten Crayola Colors Book Titles
Thank you Mareli! Nope, I’ve been seeing your comments, so you’re good. 😉 Fingers crossed it’s working again.
Winterwood is one of my favorites, too. <3
Gosh, that all sounds so frustrating! I really hope it gets sorted out soon. I love your list though. We absolutely need a Lady Sunshine crayon!!
Great list! I especially like number 3!
TEST
It worked!! Yay!!! Thank you for trying. <3
WOOHOO!
That was such a faster fix than usual for me. Maybe all this useless information I’ve been learning is actually useful. Hahaha!
We can hope, right?
I love your list! I love it so much that I want it to be it’s own palette! Haha! Thanks for the fun list!

Awww, thank you so much! <3
I love how you included pictures to match the aesthetic of the colors! I am sorry you had all those problems with blog security
Thank you! <3 Fingers crossed that things are working finally. :)
Hi, testing to see if my comment comes through. Hope it’ll work! 🙂
Also, I love your post this week!
It worked!! Yay!! Thank you. ❤️❤️
Oh I love your picks! I wanted to do this TTT but got stuck on not being familiar with crayola names. Hope your blog sorts itself out somehow. I had some trouble that got sorted by fiddling with the settings of the Jetpack addon.
Thank you!! Yeah, I didn’t even look at the Crayola names. Haha! I was afraid I’d be too overwhelmed. I *think* I got it fixed. I had to just keep adjusting my firewall settings. Crossing my fingers that tomorrows TTT goes smoothly. 🙂
(Going to try another comment :D) “Lady Sunshine” is my favorite of your batch! Sounds so perfect. Also, I almost added “Shadow & Bone” to my list as well. Thanks for visiting Finding Wonderland last week!
Oh I’m sorry if you commented before and it didn’t go through. But yay it worked this time!! Hopefully I’ve finally got it straightened out. 🙂
I love these colours and what beautiful photos you found to go along with them! I had a lot of fun with this prompt too, sounds like it was perfect after your blog stress
Thank you!! <3 <3
