September 2021 Book Haul

Hello Readers! I had a great reading month in September, with a nice mix of ARCs, backlist books, and fall-themed books. If you’d like to see what I read, check out My September Wrap-Up!

My September Haul is a little out of control, but when I wanted to order a book from Book Outlet, it only made sense to order enough to get the free shipping. Right?? It’d been a loooong time since a box of books had arrived on my doorstep and I’d forgotten how fun it was. I also added some books from Paperbackswap, two books from my book subscription box, and a few ebooks, as well.

To make me feel a little better about adding so many new books to my shelves (and to make more room), I did a quick look and was able to unhaul about twelve books. Whew!

Let’s take a look at my haul for September!

My eARC

I only added one eARC (advanced reading copy) from Netgalley this month: The Suite Spot by Trish Doller. I enjoyed Float Plan, Doller’s previous novel, and I had no idea it would be a series, so I was thrilled to be invited to read this one, as well.

Synopsis:

Trish Doller’s The Suite Spot is a charming romance novel about taking a chance on a new life and a new love.

Rachel Beck has hit a brick wall. She’s a single mom, still living at home and trying to keep a dying relationship alive. Aside from her daughter, the one bright light in Rachel’s life is her job as the night reservations manager at a luxury hotel in Miami Beachβ€”until the night she is fired for something she didn’t do.

On impulse, Rachel inquires about a management position at a brewery hotel on an island in Lake Erie called Kelleys Island. When she’s offered the job, Rachel packs up her daughter and makes the cross country move.

What she finds on Kelleys Island is Mason, a handsome, moody man who knows everything about brewing beer and nothing about running a hotel. Especially one that’s barely more than foundation and studs. It’s not the job Rachel was looking for, but Mason offers her a chance to help build a hotelβ€”and rebuild her own lifeβ€”from the ground up.

My Paperbackswap Books

My Book Outlet Purchases

If you’ve never ordered books from Book Outlet, I would recommend them. I purchased this box of books for about $35 with a coupon and free shipping. The books are in excellent condition! (Btw, click the Book Outlet link and it should take you to a page for $10 off your first order of $25 for new customers!)

My Book HookUp Box

Check out My Book HookUp Unboxing post to see what all I found inside—and for some cute photos of my kitten who didn’t want to be excluded.

Free ebook

I picked up Good Nights: A Love Again Novel (Love Again, #2) by Heather Grace Stewart when it was available for free. I haven’t read the previous book in the series, but these are stand-alones. I couldn’t pass it up when I saw all the glowing reviews. Let me know if you’ve read this one or anything else by this author.

Amazon First Reads

My Amazon First Reads choice for September was A Conspiracy of Mothers by Colleen van Niekerk. It’s an historical fiction novel set in South Africa and the early reviews are great! I can see this one fulfilling a hard-to-fill prompt on the Popsugar Reading Challenge.

Available 10/1/21

Have you read any of these books? Did you add any of them to your TBR? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I danced a joyful jig when I got the Suite Spot. Can’t wait to read it! Your physical haul has SO MANY great books! Words on Bathroom Walls was great (I love both Walton’s books). That Center book was wonderful too! She can do no wrong by me. Hope they are all hits for you

    1. Yes!! I think I audibly gasped when I got the invite for The Suite Spot. It wasn’t even on my radar yet. So excited for it, and I’ll be excited to hear your thoughts, as well. Also happy to hear you enjoyed Words on Bathroom Walls. I didn’t even remember adding that to my Paperbackswap wishlist when I was offered it. I love Katherine Center too, and it’s been too long since I’ve read one of hers. I need to get on that. πŸ˜‰
