Hello Readers! Leslie @ Books Are The New Black inspired me to join the Trope-ical Readathon when she shared her TBR. By some miracle, I found myself with only one ARC to read this month, so it seemed like the perfect time to join the challenge. Readathons help me to read more during the month and cross off some of those backlist books on my shelves, as well!
All the rules and information for this challenge can be found @ JenJenReviews. There are a lot of details but they also have a YouTube video that helped me understand how each challenge works. Basically, you choose your team and each team gets points for challenges completed. But you don’t have to stick to the challenges, you can also get points just for pages read on any book you choose.
Point System
- Common Challenges: 50 POINTS EACH
- Team Challenges: 100 POINTS EACH
- Team Books: 150 POINTS EACH
- Pages Read: 1 POINT PER PAGE
Common Challenges
There are two options for the Common Challenges: read a book with the given trope OR one that satisfies the alternate prompt. It’s highly unlikely that I’ll get to all of these, but the options will give me plenty of room for mood reading. I’ll also be choosing books that satisfy my yearly Popsugar Reading Challenge or ARCs I have waiting to be read for later on in the year.

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
Team Challenges
- Read a book with “Bookish” themes – The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan (alternate – The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams)
- Read a book featuring a historical figure – The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah (From what I understand, this book contains at least one actual historical figure, Edith Cavell.)
Hopefully I’ll get to cross off several of these books this month. Will you be participating in the Trope-ical Readathon? Let me know in the comments!
Ooh this looks so cool! I would do this, but last time I tried to do a readathon I failed miserably π Perks of being a mood reader π I love how the title for a book over 500 pages is a weapon π Have fun with this!
Haha! I completely understand. I’m a TBR reader that would love to be a mood reader. I need that pressure to pick up books. π
This one sounds like a fun readathon! I love the idea of seeking out different tropes to read. π
Yes! And I like that it’s over a whole month instead of a shorter time. Gives me more time to procrastinate. Ha!
You have an AMAZING tbr!!!! Omg, so many wonderful books. I love the Kristin Hannah choices. I am sooo happy that I influenced you to join!! Also, SAME TEAM!!! YEAH!!! Let’s do this!! π
Haha! I’m so happy I discovered it. And of course I had to join the same team! We’re gonna rock this readathon! π
