I’m feeling like the worst fan ever because I had to learn the news that Stephenie Meyer will finally be publishing Midnight Sun from my husband, someone who is most assuredly NOT on top of book news. How is it that someone who is a Twilight fan and book blogger had no idea Meyer has had a count down up on her website for the past week?? I feel ashamed. BUT, I was very happy to hear the news. Fans have waited a long time, and it will give me an excuse to reread the series. Again. π
When I went searching for news, I was surprised to find little in the book community. Is Twilight still being shamed?? Let me know what you think!
Midnight Sun Coming August 4th!
If you’re like me and you haven’t heard the news, Midnight Sun will be published on August 4, 2020! Meyers had a countdown clock on her website and it updated when the time ran out this morning with a letter to fans announcing the book’s release. She teases more to come, with a playlist (YAY!!), contests, and blog tour.
Cover Love
Can we just appreciate this gorgeous cover? I love that it continues the themes set by the previous novels, but I do have to admit I’m a little sad it’s not a red sun. Probably too obvious, though. I can totally get on board with the bleeding pomegranate.
The History of Midnight Sun
Most fans know the history of Midnight Sun. As of this writing, it hasn’t even been added to Goodreads yet, or I would link to the synopsis here. But Midnight Sun is Edward’s point of view of the events in Twilight. Meyer was writing the manuscript in 2008 when part of it was leaked online. She was understandably upset and stopped writing it. She did release part of it on her website, which is where I read it. I was a fan of what I read–Edward’s point of view being very different from Bella’s–so I’ll be excited to see if that opinion holds up. If you want more details, here is an article from npr:

Are you a fan? Will you be picking up Midnight Sun? Let me know in the comments!
I had no idea either! I love Twilight, I don’t care what other people think haha.
Oh yay!! I’m not alone! <3
I’ll admit I already pre-ordered it from my local indie bookstore.
Yay!! I want to preorder it, too, but I’m wondering if anyone will have swag with preorders. π
I was a fan of the Twilight books, but I’ve never been big on books that tell the same story from an alternate POV. I’m happy for superfans who really want to read it, though!
I can understand that. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t. π
