Every year I long to attend the Half Price Books Clearance Sale in Dallas where everything is $2, and this year I finally got to go! I must admit I was a bit overwhelmed when I walked in and saw the massive amounts of books spread out across the multitude of tables as far as the eye could see.
Okay. Maybe not that far. I grabbed a shopping buggy (with the most annoying squeaky wheels ever) and dove in! We didn’t arrive until about 4 o’clock, and they were only open until 7, but I thought that should be plenty of time. Right?? I quickly realized that I’d already read, owned, or had never heard of most of the books I saw. Surely, I thought, in this large collection of books, I can find a few off my wish list.
I did succeed in finding a few. However, when I located the rest of my family, they were sifting through DVDs. With our stomachs growling, we were ready to give up when they announced they’d remain open until 8. We ended up buying more movies than books. Which I’m still trying to figure out exactly how that happened.
