A Myrtle Hardcastle Mystery Giveaway!

When Algonquin Books ended up accidentally sending me two sets of Elizabeth C. Bunce’s Premeditated Myrtle and How to Get Away with Myrtle, I knew I wanted to host a giveaway for the extra set. THEN my blog was hacked, I ended up switching hosts, and comments started disappearing, too. It was a real learning experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Ha! I knew it wasn’t the right time to host a giveaway. But things seem to be working smoothly again, so I’m celebrating with a giveaway!

These highly-rated middle grade books will arrive just as everyone starts longing for more Fall-ish reads. When I think of Fall, I think of cozying up with a warm blanket, a hot cup of tea, and a good Mystery. Unfortunately because of shipping, this will only be open to those in the US. But my 2nd blogiversary is coming up next month and I’ll be hosting a giveaway including everyone then. ๐Ÿ™‚

How to Get Away with Myrtle (Myrtle Hardcastle Myster, #2) by Elizabeth C. Bunce (Hardcover)

Synopsis from Goodreads:

An Edgar Award-winning series!

Before the train has left the station, Englandโ€™s most accomplished new detective already is on a suspectโ€™s trail, and readers will be delighted to travel along.

Myrtle Hardcastle has no desire to go on a relaxing travel excursion with her aunt Helena when there are More Important things to be done at home, like keeping close tabs on criminals and murder trials. Unfortunately, she has no say in the matter. So off Myrtle goesโ€”with her governess, Miss Judson, and cat, Peony, in towโ€”on a fabulous private railway coach headed for the English seaside.

Myrtle is thrilled to make the acquaintance of Mrs. Bloom, a professional insurance investigator aboard to protect the priceless Northern Lights tiara. But before the train reaches its destination, both the tiara and Mrs. Bloom vanish. When Myrtle arrives, she and Peony discover a dead body in the baggage car. Someone has been murderedโ€”with Aunt Helenaโ€™s sewing shears.

The trip is derailed, the local police are inept, and Scotland Yard is in no rush to arrive. Whatโ€™s a smart, bored Young Lady of Quality stranded in a washed-up carnival town to do but follow the evidence to find out which of her fellow travelers is a thief and a murderer?

  1. I just finished an ARC of The Ghost of Midnight Lake by Lucy Strange and it was really good–the characters, the world, the writing, and the mystery–and I highly recommend this to all who enjoy middle grade books.

  2. I read an ARC of Premeditated Myrtle and loved it. I would love to win this set of books to give to my granddaughter. We would enjoy reading them together. Thanks for the chance Dedra.

    1. Oh that’s fun! I don’t read much middle grade now that my kids are all in their teens but I’ll reach for them when I need something quick to fulfill a reading challenge. ๐Ÿ˜‰
