Top Ten Tuesday: Books (On My Kindle) With Colors in the Titles

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is Books With Colors in the Titles.

Hello Readers! I hope you’re all well and safe. I’ve decided to twist the prompt this week a bit. I did a Colorful Titles Top Ten Tuesday post last year. It was weird looking back at it because I had just started blogging. I’m happy to see I’ve improved. 😉 Anyway, I primarily focused on my physical books with that post, so this week I’ll be sharing 5 books on my Kindle I’ve read and 5 books that I haven’t read. All with colors in the titles, of course!

(Link to Goodreads synopsis through book title.)

1

Dear Emmie Blue by Lia Louis

Dear Emmie Blue is one of my favorite reads of the year so far. This one was such a lovely surprise, and I’ll take any opportunity to shout about it. I gave it five stars!

In this charming and poignant novel, teenager Emmie Blue releases a balloon with her email address and a big secret into the sky, only to fall head-over-heels for the boy who finds it; now, fourteen years later, the one thing Emmie has been counting on is gone for good, and everything she planned is up in the air.

2

Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

Get a Life, Chloe Brown was so much fun! I’m happy I finally picked it up! I gave it four stars!

Chloe Brown is a chronically ill computer geek with a goal, a plan, and a list. After almost—but not quite—dying, she’s come up with seven directives to help her “Get a Life”, and she’s already completed the first: finally moving out of her glamorous family’s mansion.

3

The Snow White Trilogy by Salla Simukka

I read this series several years ago, but it has stuck with me. I didn’t enjoy the final book as much as the first two, though. I gave the first two 3.75 stars!

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for teens—this international bestseller is a thrilling, edge-of-your-seat Nordic noir that chills to the bone, and not just because of the bleak winter setting.

4

White Collar Girl by Renee Rosen

I read this historical fiction book several years ago, but I remember enjoying it. I gave it 3.5 stars!

The latest novel from the bestselling author of Dollface and What the Lady Wants takes us deep into the tumultuous world of 1950s Chicago where a female journalist struggles with the heavy price of ambition…

5

The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick

The Silver Linings Playbook is one of those rare instances when I loved the book and the film! I only gave the book four stars, but in my memory it’s a five-star read. 😉

In this enchanting novel, Matthew Quick takes us inside Pat’s mind, showing us the world from his distorted yet endearing perspective. As the award-winning novelist Justin Cronin put it: “Tender, soulful, hilarious, and true, The Silver Linings Playbook is a wonderful debut.”

6

Beneath a Scarlet Sky by Mark T. Sullivan

Beneath a Scarlet Sky was an Amazon First Reads choice from several years ago, but I haven’t picked it up yet. The current Goodreads rating is 4.41 stars!

Based on the true story of a forgotten hero, Beneath a Scarlet Sky is the triumphant, epic tale of one young man’s incredible courage and resilience during one of history’s darkest hours.

7

The Silver Music Box by Mina Baites

Another Amazon First Reads choice that I haven’t read yet! The current Goodreads rating is 4.16 stars.

A captivating cross-generational novel from German author Mina Baites about a Jewish family divided by World War II and an inheritance with the power to bring them back together.

8

White Rose, Black Forest by Eoin Dempsey

Um, I’m sensing a theme here. Another Amazon First Reads choice. And it’s a historical fiction set in WWII. Current Goodreads rating is 4.08. I need to read more of these free books.

In the shadows of World War II, trust becomes the greatest risk of all for two strangers.

9

The Gray House by Mariam Petrosyan

Yeah, it’s another Amazon First Reads choice from several years ago. I think it’s the cover that has kept me from picking it up (or the several hundred other books on my tbr). I can’t quite figure it out. But the current Goodreads rating is 4.18!

The Gray House is an astounding tale of how what others understand as liabilities can be leveraged into strengths.

10

Agnes Grey by Anne Brontë

Finally a book that wasn’t an Amazon First Reads choice! Although, it was a book I downloaded for free on Amazon. 😉 I’m even more interested in reading this classic after having recently read Brontë’s Mistress by Finola Austin.

Agnes Grey is the touching story of a young girl who decides to enter the world as a governess, but whose bright illusions of acceptance, freedom and friendship are gradually destroyed.

Have you read any of these books? What’s your favorite book with a color in the title? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Wandering!

  1. Omg I can’t believe I forgot Chloe Brown and Dear Emmie Blue! I really want to read both of these books, especially Chloe Brown, since I’ve heard really amazing things about them. This week ended up being more challenging than I expected ? Great list, Dedra!

    1. Right?? Especially challenging since I just did this prompt on my own not too long ago. I guess maybe that’s why I shouldn’t stray so far from the original prompts. Ha! 😉

    1. Ha! I do love the cover of White Collar Girl! And someone else pointed out that it’s a sloth on the cover of The Grey House! I see it now. But it still disturbs me, too. 😉

  2. Nice list Dedra. There are a few on your list that I read and several on my TBR. I almost had Beneath the Scarlet Sky on my list. I enjoyed it, but only gave it 4 stars, so I didn’t include it.

  3. Great list! I always forget about my ebooks!! I need to just go through them all and clean them up and remind myself of what I’ve got!

    1. It can be overwhelming, right?? I did a mini-clean at the beginning of the year, but I’m hesitant to remove anything. I can’t help thinking what if my tastes change?? Lol

  4. You don’t realize how many people have colors in their names until you try to do lists like these. Haha. I originally wanted to use my Kindle books as well, but I didn’t know how to search them, then realized I temporarily deleted the app from my phone… I’ve not read or heard of any of these before, but the Snow White trilogy and Get a Life, Chloe Brown sound like they might be enjoyable!
