Top Ten Tuesday: Books On My Fall 2019 TBR

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week is “books on my fall 2019 TBR.”

The Goldfinch is my current read. I’ve been meaning to read this one for a long time. I’m hoping to finish it before the new movie leaves the theaters. I’m only about a third of the way in, but I’m really enjoying it!

I hear The Secret History is also a perfect fall read, so I’m hoping to cross off this other great Donna Tartt novel, as well.

This rarely happens, but I’ve found myself with only one ARC to read for the rest of the year. It doesn’t include any new ones that might pop up that I haven’t received or been approved for yet, but I’ve been trying hard to limit myself. Twenty-One Truths About Love by Matthew Dicks sounds right up my contemporary fiction alley!

I can not wait to read the next one from Maggie Stiefvater, Call Down the Hawk. It’s a return to The Raven Cycle world, which is one of my all-time favorite series. I’ve already pre-ordered this one, so I can read it as soon as possible!

I won a signed copy of Three Women by Lisa Taddeo, but I haven’t been able to get to it.

The rest of my selections are the books I have left to fulfill my reading challenge for the year. For the past several years I’ve participated in the Popsugar Reading Challenge, and like usual, it’s getting down to the wire. Time to get creative with some shorter selections. I’m hoping to use Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark for the “book inspired by myth/legend/folklore” Popsugar prompt.

Persuasion by Jane Austen would fulfill “a book published posthumously” Popsugar prompt.

Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen would fulfill “a book set in an abbey, cloister, monastery, vicarage, or convent” Popsugar advanced prompt.

I love The Great Gatsby, so I’m hoping I’ll enjoy this shorter selection by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Popular Girl, that will fulfill “a book with POP, SUGAR, or CHALLENGE in the title” Popsugar prompt.

I still have a soft spot for choose-your-own-adventure books. This one looks like so much fun! I’ll be reading Romeo and/or Juliet: A Chooseable-Path Adventure by Ryan North to fulfill the “LitRPG book” Popsugar advanced prompt. I’ll be bending the rules a bit with this selection, but I hear there is a small side-quest option that puts you inside a video game.

There you have it! I seriously doubt I’ll make it through all these, but it’s healthy to set goals, right??

Happy Wandering!

  1. I think I read an earlier iteration of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark when I was a kid. Or maybe it just had a very similar title? At any rate, those types of tales are delightful. πŸ™‚

    My TTT.

    1. You probably did! I believe it’s been around since the 1980s?? I remember most kids being terrified of the pictures. It’s beautifully illustrated.

    1. You should do it! I’m not sure if I’d recommend starting with those… lol. Wuthering Heights is great if you like dark, moody reads. Since I haven’t read Persuasion yet, I can’t say how that one is, but I’ve loved every Jane Austen I’ve ever read, so I’m not too worried.
