TBR Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’ve Added to My TBR and Forgotten Why

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is Books I’ve Added to my TBR and Forgotten Why (stolen from Louise @ Foxes & Fairy Tales)

Hello Readers! I hope today finds you well and safe. When I saw today’s topic, I fully expected that I would end up doing something else. It’s only been a few months since I did a sweeping un-haul of my physical and digital bookshelves. I figured I’d scan through my TBR (To-Be-Read) and recognize everything on it. But as I started scanning, I realized there were several books that I’d forgotten why I’d added them, after all. My list is based solely on the covers, because I do tend to create different shelves on Goodreads that will sometimes remind me of why I added them, or jot down things in the notes section, such as ‘Amazon-first-reads’ or ‘giveaway.’ Here they are in no particular order!

  1. I did the same thing with my list this week. Having weeded out my collection earlier this year, I thought I’d recognize everything, but there were still a few that left me scratching my head. Where the heck did they come from? But, House Arrest is awesome, and I hope you end up loving it.

  2. Oh funny, I literally *just* read a K.A. Holt novel (From You to Me). The one on your list didn’t grab my attention, unfortunately. Glaciers looks really intriguing, though. (thrift store shopper + some kinda dream job fixing library books?? get outta town! by which i mean come into my town and bring this book with you)

    1. Oh okay! I’ll have to look up From You to Me. So… I didn’t read the synopsis for any of mine yet, but if Glaciers is about a thrift store shopper who fixes library books??!! That’s why I added it. πŸ˜‰ I love to thrift store shop. And I love books, obviously. Ha!

      Happy Reading!

    1. Yes! It appears to be. I still haven’t read the synopsis on these yet. I wanted to wait and see what all of you thought of them first. πŸ™‚

    1. Oh okay! That’s the main one I “recognized” but I still couldn’t remember why I added it.

Yes, I bet this week’s TTT will be full of new-to-us books. Our TBRs will be growing. πŸ˜‰

  3. These are definitely some interesting, striking covers! I like Glaciers — I would definitely pick that up to take a look, and Frontlines and Before We were strangers.

  4. I haven’t heard of plenty of these but I am curious about We Are the Ants and as I’ve found out while making this post, I also have that Carlino book on my TBR ? I’m not sure if I’ve read any of her books before but her name does sound quite familiar! Great post, Dedra πŸ™‚

    1. Ha! Well, we must have added it for some reason! We Are the Ants seems to be the most well-known one on my list. I might need to move it up the tbr. πŸ™‚ Thanks, Dini!

  5. The Edge of the Lost is the only one on my TBR. I was shocked when I started looking at my TBR and found so many books that I do not remember adding, or remember but they had gotten lost in the shuffle.

  6. The Edge of Never looked really familiar to me turns out I read and enjoyed it in 2015. I vaguely remember seeing Before We Were Strangers but for some reason hadn’t added it to my TBR so thanks for the reminder!

    1. Yay! I’m happy to hear people have enjoyed The Edge of Never. I knew it was on my tbr for a reason. πŸ˜‰ Hopefully we both enjoy Before We Were Strangers when we get to it!

  7. I have read The Edge of Never and I remember liking it!! I have so many books that I tried to win giveaways on Goodreads… they make you add it to your TBR but then I forget to go and delete them if I decide I don’t want to read them later (Ex. bad reviews). This week taught me that I really need to go through and clean it out, even the ones that I own on my Kindle/Nook!

    1. Oh I’m happy to hear you enjoyed The Edge of Never. Sounds like that one needs to stay on my tbr. And yes! That’s exactly how I end up with so many on my tbr, too. I did recently do a clean and got it down to 800 from 1000. But it’s currently back up to 1000. Oops. πŸ˜‰

  8. It’s smart to make specific TBRs – then you won’t forget why you added books. I just have three – adult fiction, children’s fiction, and non-fiction. Just glancing at a cover, I can’t always remember why I added a book, but if I read the plot summary, I’ll usually spot tropes and themes that interest me.

I remember liking FRONT LINES, but it’s been a long time since I read it.

    Happy TTT!

    1. I probably have way too many specific TBRs. πŸ˜‰ I’m a list maker.

I’m happy to hear you remember liking Front Lines. I think you’re the only one so far. πŸ™‚

  9. I really need to start using Goodreads more and sorting my shelves on there so I can keep up with things like this. I think the only one I’ve even heard of here is We Are the Ants, although I haven’t read it. Some of the others caught my eye by their covers though, like Before We Were Strangers and Shuffle, Repeat, so I’ll have to look more into those!

  10. I’ve never heard of any of these, but they’ve got such interesting covers! I do vaguely think I’ve seen Front Lines somewhere? But it’s not my type of book, so I probably immediately dismissed it. xD

    1. Front Lines doesn’t look like a book I would normally be interested in either, but once I read the synopsis and learned it was an alternate history of WWII where women could be drafted, then I realized why I’d added it to my tbr. I’m still intrigued. πŸ™‚
