Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Hope Santa Brings

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. This week’s prompt is Books I Hope Santa Brings.

Hello Readers! Christmas is only a few days away and the end of 2020 is very near. Hopefully the tree is trimmed, all of your shopping is done, and these last few days you can find some time to relax and read!

This week we’re looking at the books we hope Santa leaves for us under the tree. I remembered doing a similar prompt last year, Books I Hope to Find Under My Tree, so I took a look to see if there were any books I did eventually get—or even read—or if they’re still on my wishlist. πŸ˜‰ I did add four to my shelves, read two, and one is on my list again this year. Oops.

(Link to Goodreads synopsis through book title.)

  1. Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo – After reading With the Fire on High this year, all of Acevedo’s other books are on my TBR, but I especially want to read this one!
  2. Love & Olives by Jenna Evans Welch – I binged Welch’s Love & Gelato and Love & Luck this summer, and I adored them! Greece is one of my dream destinations, so Love & Olives is a must-read for me.
  3. The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden – So many of my fellow book bloggers love this book. And while I have a love/hate relationship with magical realism, I’m very intrigued by this one.
  4. Slay by Brittney Morris – This is one of those YA books that on paper probably wouldn’t interest me, but the hype for this book has won me over!
  5. From Lukov With Love by Mariana Zapata – I’ve heard so many great things about this book, and I used to be a bit obsessed with Olympic figure skating back in the day.
  6. The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune – This book wasn’t even on my radar but so many of you have said it’s one of your favorite reads of the year, so I have to read it now!
  7. Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams – I’ve wanted to read this one since I read an excerpt when it was published. And one of my prompts on my 2021 Popsugar Challenge is a book that starts with the letter “Q”, “X”, or “Z”, so it will fit this prompt perfectly!
  8. King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo – Now that I’ve finally read the Shadow and Bone series and the Six of Crows duology, I’m excited to read more in the Grishaverse!
  9. Anxious People by Fredrik Backman – I’m a fan of Backman’s writing and his latest book sounds unlike anything else. It’s getting rave reviews!
  10. The Simple Wild signed bundle by K.A. Tucker – I heard about this sweet bundle from Dini @ dinipandareads and I love the idea of having physical copies to display on my shelf since I read them all originally on an e-reader.

Do we share any books on our wishlists? Have you read any of these yet? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Wandering!

  1. I had the misfortune of reading a really negative review of Bear and Nightingale when it initially released. Since then, I too have hesitated about trying out this magic realism book. But everyone seems to love it so! Phew! Anyways, great list and I love that you also put in some short snippets about the book. Happy TTT

  2. The Bear and the Nightingale has been on my TBR list forever. I hope you get it for Christmas. It might make a really good present!

I have Fredrik Backman’s Us against You on my list, but still want to read Anxious People as well.

Hope you get a few of these! Merry Christmas and here’s the rest of my list: !0 Books I hope Santa brings

  3. Great list! The Bear and the Nightingale is wonderful, and I’d class it as straight up historical fantasy rather than magical realism to be honest, and I really want to give The House in the Cerulean Sea a try. Merry Christmas!

  4. You have some wonderful books on your Christmas Wishlist. I have read several of them, but am definitely intrigued by The House in the Cerulean Sea. I have also seen a lot of recommendations for this one. Have a very Merry Christmas Dedra and I hope some of these are under your tree.

  5. Awesome list, Dedra! I have Clap When You Land but haven’t got around to reading it yet ? I definitely think TBATN is a great book and I can’t wait to re-read it before finishing the series. One day I think I want to have all of Zapata’s books on my shelf because ugh, her romances are so amazing and get me every time. I still need to read this one too though. I hope Santa brings you some goodies this year ? Also, I love your cover photo for this post–it’s so cute/cool!

    1. Oh, hopefully we can both get to Clap When You Land and From Lukov, With Love in 2021! I haven’t read any other Zapata books. It sounds like I need to go add some more to my tbr!

That is my book tree from last year! I can’t believe I didn’t even put it out this year. Ugh. 2020. <3

  6. I read four of these , and they were fantastic. I feel like you can’t go wrong with Backman or Acevedo. All of their books have been big successes for me. Hope you get them all.

  7. Great list! The House in the Cerulean Sea is my top read of 2020, so I hope you enjoy it! I am also interested in reading SLAY, and I enjoyed my first Elizabeth Acevedo book this year too (The Poet X, for me) so I want to read more of her work also.

  8. From Lukov with Love is one of my favorite Zapata books. I asked for it for my birthday even though I had already read it because I wanted a physical copy. I hope you get it… and The Simple Wild and Anxious People. These are some books that have made my best of over the years.

    1. I’m pretty sure I discovered From Lukov, With Love on your blog (along with The Simple Wild). πŸ˜‰ It’s one I keep coming back to. Hopefully I get my hands on it in 2021! <3
