Synopsis:

Sylvie Magnusson is going to be lonely this Christmas. Instead of jetting off for her honeymoon, she’s freezing at home in Cheshire. Guess that’s what happens when your fiancé dumps you a week before your wedding…

Sylvie’s best friend, Nari, plans a trip to see the Northern Lights and get Sylvie’s mojo back. But as their Lapland getaway approaches, Sylvie realises that Frozen Falls is the hometown of Stellan Virtanen, her dreamy Finnish ex-boyfriend, the one that got away.

When they meet, Stellan’s still gorgeous – and her heart is warmed when he shows her the romantic delights of Lapland (as well as some adorable Husky puppies). But when she returns to England, can she really leave Stellan behind? Or will she find that her heart belongs in the frozen North?

My (quick) thoughts

(Spoiler free)

Location, location, location! What makes this holiday romance so special is where it takes place. I was completely enamored with Finnish Lapland, a snowy, quiet place that transported me to what felt like the ends of the Earth.

“We’re up in the stars here.”

Kiley Dunbar, Christmas at Frozen Falls

Sylvie and her best friend Nari are off for a whirlwind trip over Christmas to a luxurious resort that just happens to be owned by Sylvie’s college ex-boyfriend, Stellan—the one that’s always left her wondering, “what if?”

Grab your hot cocoa or cider, this one is perfect to curl up by the fire or Christmas tree with! It’s well-written with unique characters. There’s plenty of romance, Christmas cheer, furry friends, and aurora-filled skies to keep readers dreamily turning pages. And now Lapland is firmly on my dream destination list!

A Song For A Book

On Bookstagram I created a hashtag for when I include a song that reminds me of the book I’m sharing, #ASongForABook, I thought I’d make it a regular feature on my reviews, too.

Last year, I discovered a lovely Christmas album by Praytell, a musical couple I’d seen open for another artist in concert, and I’m still loving it this year, as well. But their “Snow Song” seemed most appropriate for Christmas at Frozen Falls. (Check out all their other music if you enjoy sweet harmonies!)

Snow, just beneath the snow
It’s quiet and it’s cold
The ground is frozen underneath
Could there be life beneath the snow?
Falling on the trees
The ones that lost their leaves
The branches brittle, cold, and dark
Could there be life beneath the bark?
Wouldn’t you suppose?
I feel like one of those
A tree covered in snow
This coat still leaves me cold
But like a tree I hope
There’s life beneath the snow,
There’s life beneath the snow
